He's not looked convincing at passing at all imo. What is better is his urgency, Karius looks to distribute quickly but unlike Migs, he actually releases the ball!

Karius is still adapting to the league, if he doesn't get games then he won't adapt to the physicality and set pieces spoiling tactics of teams like West Brom.

His passing is miles better than Mignolet's and we've had a lot of positive chances to go forward and catch the opposition out with his quick distribution from the back. Its not about the quality of the passing its more about the speed of thought and being able to spot opportunities to distribute the ball quickly out to our players and get us running at their defence.

People have short memories and are now advocating bringing back Mignolet who at one point last season was costing us goals on a weekly basis.

There seems to be a media campaign against foreign goalkeepers as the media have managed to convince themselves that the PL is far too physical for any foreign goalkeeper to be able to handle. The treatment of goalkeepers coming from abroad is nothing new. De Gea, Reina, Lloris etc. all suffered from it and it seems Bravo & Karius are the two new targets.

but he can't catch a cross as he appears unable to work out the trajectory and his passing ain't that good to make up for such a basic flaw. I stated on the original thread re Migs or Karius that Migs should keep the place until he screws up which he hasn't this season plus i thought there were obvious signs of improvement in his game.
We seem now to have 2 first team goalkeepers that most people think aren't good enough

He's played what? 4 games? Think back to David De Gea at United, if they'd judged him after 4 games they would've sent him straight back to Spain, he's the best keeper in the prem and one of the best in the world now.

I don't take any notice of any media campaign or anything - I don't even read/listen to such things much. I go by what I see, and so far it's not good.
We all hoped that Karius would be a distinct upgrade on Mig, and I think some are still trying to convince themselves that that's the case, despite evidence to the contrary.
Of course he may improve, and I certainly hope he does, but those who think they are seeing this as a firm upgrade already are kidding themselves, imo.
And you can't afford to give keepers games to get up to speed if they cost you points.
Like I said earlier, he hasn't been tested yet, but I'm not seeing anything to fill me with confidence for when he is. Mig flaps at things occasionally but so far Karius hasn't even got near enough to a cross to do that. And his distribution isn't really that much better.

Stopped watching at 2-0 but let me offer this:

Mignolet = everyone has a heart attack then we drop points
Karius = everyone has a heart attack then we keep our points

I have not seen Karius coming out to punch the ball preventing opposition from attacking the ball.

But De Gea struggled with balls planted on him with opposition players challenging him Karius doesn't need the opposition players challenging him to fumble it.
He needs taking out of the firing line imo and working on his game on the training pitch away from scrutiny.

He isn't costing us points though, he's made a few minor errors that haven't led to any real chances so far. That's massive difference from Mignolet who was practically throwing the ball into the net and giving the opposition a massive helping hand with getting goals against us.

With Karius he's started poorly with dealing with crosses/corners, that's it. Every single part of Mignolet's game was terrible, he was a massive bag of nerves and he made sure the whole team got affected by his nerves. I think people are forgetting just how bad he really was for us. He's benefiting from what I would call the Enrique effect, every game he misses he becomes a better player.

I can understand why people have concerns over his ability to deal with crosses/set pieces but its only been a handful of games and I'm 100% confident in Klopp's eye for a player and have complete faith that Karius will adapt to the league and become a huge asset to the team.

Neither are fantastic but Marius may improve with age. He's young enough.

    Put it this way.
Is he any worse than Mig? Not really... has he got potential to improve with more games? Absolutely. Has Mig got hat potential? Well, we've seen 3 years of him and he's still not really progressed from dominating in the ait point of view.

If they are both as bad as each other, why play the one you know wont improve compared to the one that might?

You also need to consider context of mistakes. How many of the games in those clips do we win? If you just watch highlights Lukaku would look a decent player but the bigger picture reveals #doingalukaku
