The Austrian Fox staying with the English Foxes

Leicester v Crystal Palace (Saturday, 15:00 BST)
    Posted at10:57

Some quotes from defender Christian Fuchs, who has signed a new three-year contract with Premier League champions Leicester City.

“I’m happy here and I’ve had the best time of my career here," says the 30-year-old. "My name's the Austrian Fox and I’m staying with the English Foxes.

“Nobody expected what we achieved and I think there’s still a lot to come. We built a good foundation and we can aim for more.

“It’s a lot of fun being here and it’s amazing with the fans. Them and the club itself just makes me feel so happy to be here.”

Very good news as long as it doesn't delay or stop Chilwell's progression with us. I imagine this will hopefully be a gradual change with Fuchs helping Chilwell so over the next couple of years it results in Fuchs being back up to Chilwell and once we can manage without him I'm sure the club would grant him a free transfer.

All in all, not long ago we were crying out for a good left back and now we have a top class one who we have caught in his prime and a gem who could go on to great things. Happy days

That's interesting - he has stated that he only joined us at the 11th hour as he was planning to move to USA and his family are there and seem pretty rooted in.

Not that I'm going to be complaining too much - has been one of our best players.

Your not going to turn down a boat load of cash before you retire. He seems to have a really positive attitude around the place so no complaints here <ok>

He did say it was his last contact and then he was retiring to go to the states as that is where his family are based. Clearly our love has changed his mind :emoticon-0109-kiss:...and possibly some extra cash. But he does a always come across as a top bloke, this does genuinely seem like he wants to stay because he thinks we can still achieve more.

Agree about the Chilwell comments. Bet he only resigned because he thought this was Fuchs last year. I like Fuchs but I am a fan of youth coming through and Chilwell looks an excellent prospect.

I´m happy with Simpson & Fuchs, good news Fuchs wants to stay, he´s much more settled in England than he was here in Germany. I think the latter might of been a reason why he was thinking of going to the US & just thought, ohh! a season in the prem, why not.

I think we have a problem in our DEF & I´ll go as far as saying we need a shake up. So I´d really like to see 2 class CB´s coming in at the expence of Was & that would then put Wes on the bench (the other would make competition for places) & with that giving us more strength & options. Wes will still be good enough to do a job to replace a tired or injured player plus those wet mid-week games in the cup.
