Theres no doubt as an all round player Gerrard everytime, but there's no taking away tht scholes on his day was one of the best attacking mids ive ever seen, vision, passing and shot all rapped up in a little ginger package. He is one of the few Man u players i would love to have had playing for us over the last 10 years. On top of his ability on the Pitch always comes accross as a gentleman of it, no scandel or moaning, rare to hear his opinion in fact.

A player i'll miss as a football fan, Glad to see go as a Liverpool supporter.

Scholes was a good ball player but not a great midfielder - great midfielders need to be able to tackle, score, pass, run box to box for 90 minutes and still be able to dominate a game - all imho obviously. I will say he was a better professional than the majority of footballers though, he was rarely in the papers apart from the back page (where they should be), unlike Messrs. Giggs, Shrek, Bambi beckham et al.

Great players move around the pitch un-noticed,Scholes was known as the ''Ghost''. Messi is brilliant at it too. Gerrard is an all-rounder,but he does have a flaw in the same way Scholes did. I reckon if you could combine Scholes discipline to Gerrards tackling, you would have one hell of a player,I've said this already and am saying so again because I truly believe it.
