Morning ristac, when all fit probably 80 percent when you count Berardi and Bridcutt.

Which of the figures was not a statement of fact?
On what basis are you seeing any improvement?
Football is a results/ league table driven product, do you understand football?

This is what we need we need to do, some of it now and some in January.

Give Monk and his staff a 3 year deal immediately.

Arrange for Bartley's loan to become a permanent transfer in January.

    Same with Jansson.

Same with Sacko, though this may be more difficult due to rumors of massive buy out clauses etc. Anyone know if we have an option to buy and at what price.

Hernandez another temp to perm but a short term deal as eventually we will need to find better to improve further.

If these things are not done then everything is built on sand and we'll be back to square one or worse in no time.

We have to be fair and face up to a few things: in defence of chippy he is right in some respects with the small margins comment. But those who say we've improved are also correct, here's why:

    1. Passage of play has improved greatly as we've seen a lot of dross over the last few seasons, and now we can string passes together and look organised.
    2. We have a solid defence which we haven't had for years and with at least 7 players who can interchange. Berardi, Ayling, Bartley, Jannson, Coyle, Taylor, Cooper. So have enough there to go to a back 3, or wing backs or rest Bartley or Jannson with Cooper, or use Ayling as a CH.
    3. Chippy is correcvt however because we have no real progress in the middle. Yes with Bridcutt and O'Kane we are more solid, but too sloppy and not skillful enough to do real damage. Sacko can be a game changer but he's a kid. We cannot carry on saying this is the best team we've had because how many of those midfielders would get a start over Howson, Clayton, BJ, Cook, Delph, Snodgrass, Gradel or even Brown?
    4. Up top we are too rigid so have to rely on Wood being a battering ram and he wont be able to do it every game all season, so what do we do, as we dont do 4-4-2 or 3-5-2
    5. Antonnson and Roofe and new and a work in progress and may never be able to cope in this league. In the past we had beckford, Becchio, Somma, Grella who you could rely on, so although Wood is playing like a £10m striker he cant all season and nobody is helping. So chippy wins again and up front and midfield we are not as good as we've had. we are just better organised.

Some good comments and discussion today on where we are at the moment.

Most seem to agree the back five, 2 in central midfield and Wood up top are sorted for now.

That's 8 all of whom can improve individually and collectively.

I'm willing to include Sacko as well as he really does have massive potential. If we play to his strengths he could destroy teams in this League.

So we need 2 more. A ball playing No10 to upgrade on Hernandez or a speedster second striker to be slid in down the channels. Then finally a left sided midfielder who needs to be pacy and have an eye for goal.

If we had Snodgrass, Gradel and McCormack back we would be unstoppable. Ok they're not coming so let's go and find the next ones as we've proved there are some gems out there if you look hard enough.

afternoon all ... tough result, but the key is to learn from it ... taking Sacko off to save him for Saturday was correct, we were leading and Monk put his trust in the team to see the game out ... this will be a good education for Leeds, and Monk will no doubt be drivng the lesson home today ... small things now to improve, and we'll be at the sharp end of the table sooner rather than later

January now becomes key for Leeds ... we need to add, for me, a left mid and a striker as a minimum, but they must be players who can come in and contribute right away, not needing time to learn about the Championship ... the question of course is if Cellino will be willing to dig deep and add to the squad, so it may be that the likes of Diagouraga, Doukara and Murphy will have to move on first

Looking at the squad there is only Turnbull to add to your list of Diagouraga, Doukara and Murphy which for us is a lot less deadwood than usual.

Problem is of course that apart from Turnbull they are all on new or relatively new contracts and as they are likely to have to go down a level to find a club they are not going to be easy to offload due to wages.

You've made me think a little there, Billy. Doukara was bought on the same premise as Roofe - i.e. as a striker AND a winger. Doukara can play very well on the left. I wonder how he's doing in training - could he be a good temporary fit whilst Dallas is out injured? Probably not, but just sayin' ... :D

Doukara a much better player than Mowatt, don't understand why he's not in the squad,or Dave instead of Philips for that matter.

Flat and lacked intensity last night, Wigan had enough clear cut chances to earn a point.

some of the worst subs he could have made, left footed Centre Mid on for a right winger <laugh>

I remember seeing Doukara on TV, I don't know if it was his best game for Leeds but he looked to have the makings of a decent player. He was strong, clever, and mobile. What happened?

that was against Wolves last season, he tormented them, grafted non stop and was a real handful ... so we know from that performance he has it in him, but seems fragile mentally and has simply disappeared ... don't see him cracking it in the Championship where you need to be on it every game ... Diagouraga has also faded since joining Leeds, which is a shame because he did very well at Brentford, but there was little expectation at that club as they were underdogs
