Nail on head. This is the bigger game this week, also the one we're more likely to take 3 points from. I also think sentiment should come into it to an extent. Without Jose we probably would have plummeted after the Summer '14 exodus he kept it together when loads of others were losing their ****. He's since led us to 2 consecutive point record totals in the PL and qualifying for Europe. He's our club captain, he deserves to be leading us out in the San Siro.
Absolutely. Really depends on which you see as the more important game. The heart says Milan, the head says Man City...
Not for me, both the heart & head say Inter City is just one match in a 38 game season, also one of the hardest we'll face. What we do at the Etihad is unlikely to have a big bearing on where we end up this season. Whereas if we beat Inter we have one foot in the ko stages of the EL already...
Completely agree. This game is the crowning glory of what we have achieved since our relegation to league one. I hope there are more moments like these to come but for now this game means so much to so many. I would take a tonking at City (a place even I don't think my match thread streak can last) if it meant a 1-0 win on Thursday.
Just seen on saints web (I only went over for a look as we are playing ok ) that we are playing in Red/White. If confirmed that will make our away end so much more colourful (and I only own the home shirt!)

Certainly not 6 years ago when a journeyman Portuguese centre half and an unknown youth player helped defeat the mighty Oldham http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_2/9092349.stm Another landmark moment on Thursday. Good luck to all who are going, savour every second.
Puel will definitely go with his strongest side on Thursday (or at least the fit ones)...our group is quite tight and a win (or at least not a loss) will be massive. This matters more than the City game...we will do well enough in the EPL not to worry about one game. The game in Israel was different because of the journey involved...a nip over to Italy is entirely different.
Disagree. The needs of the team, and it's preceding matches, come first. If Kelvin was still registered as a player, would you want to play him for sentiment? As much as I love Fonte, one of the 2 coming up he won't play. And that's fine, but Puel shouldn't be deciding it on sentiment, he'll be deciding it based on what he feels is best to get the results.
Strewth, can you just hold on a minute. I'm still reading about yesterday's victory, I'm a bit slower than some of you. This Sunday/Thursday turn around is getting a bit hectic. Honestly though, the thought of playing Inter is a bit surreal. As one of the Hartlepool veterans I never thought we would leap up this high in so short a time. The newer fans must think this is how it has always been. Don't mention the Tranmere Cup game! Nightmares still.
I am genuinely overcome with emotion thinking about what this game represents. SO very proud of our club.
Why would Puel have any sentiment about players anyway....not part of his history. I like the fact that he seems such a strong manager. I'm pretty certain that Fonte will play in Milan though and I see no reason why he can't play on Sunday as well if he isn't injured.
