Based on the ever widening gulf between the established, top 8, middle 6 and bottom 6, I just wonder how many points might be needed to stay up... 38 is sort of the benchmark I think, but because of this 'gulf' I wonder if something like 33 might be enough. Just the 26 or so to go then ....GULP!!!!..
I dunno why people worry so much about projected points totals. If we're in the bottom three we're on track to go down. If we're not, we're on track to stay up.
I said 13 points from this run of 'easy' games. I only predicted a draw against Bournemouth. Suddenly 13 looks a tad optimistic.
The adrenalin that brought us the 2 league wins in August has gone. We're now picking up niggly injuries that keep players out for a couple of weeks and the threadbare squad (despite the signings in Aug) does not have the strength in depth to replace players. We still don't have a right-back and Robbo gets injured and we don't have a left back to replace him with. Anyone who has watched football for any length of time knows that we're going down with a whimper and more then likely will finish bottom. If we get to 30 points it will be a miracle.
Get a win against Stoke or Watford and we're on 10 points after 9/10 games...not too shabby...we should be on 9/10 points already like! If we average a point per game after that to the end of the season that will do me. If we get to Xmas with anything near 20 points plus some new owners we should get some more players in and make a fist of it....close to 40 I reckon.
Aye, it's text book 'how to **** up a season' stuff at the moment. Doesn't mean it can't be turned around. But can't see that happening without new owners, pronto. Couple of new coaches in the meantime wouldn't hurt.
New owners are a must if we're to have any chance. Get the fans back onside, get something resembling an atmosphere back at the KCOM and we might have a sniff at staying up. Otherwise no chance, we'll be the PL basket case this season. I have a major problem with these owners. In fact going down doesn't bother me because the disappointment of relegation will be far outweighed by the Schadenfreudian enjoyment I'll have as the Allams blow best part of £80m as their asset devalues.
