yeah , that fav criteria was a previous system that was fiendish to apply let alone understand but barneys is easy
Yep, very easy system to apply. If ‘yes’ is the response to these 2 questions then you have a bet (i) is the race a Claimer??? and (ii) is there an outright top weight (i.e. not joint)??? Nothing else involved. After no claimers for a while there are 2 towards the end of the week. At Redcar, on Friday, and Catterick Bridge, the following day. In the 2 and a bit weeks of following the system on here the current formline reads -112 and if you had invested a tenner on all 3 qualifiers at SP then you would be +£28.75. If you had got on at early prices then these profits would have been higher as detailed previously.
Fair point, Ron. Although the only runner, from that category thus far, was beaten just half a length. Shall we give it a couple more races from the 2YO brigade and then have a look at how it has gone re a firm decision???
A claimer tomorrow at Redcar (2.15), albeit a 2YO one, and there is a qualifier. Amazingly, it’s AWAIT THE STORM once again! Runner-up, last Thursday, when dropped into this grade for the first time he reappears quickly with connections obviously looking to go one better than last week. Old boy Jim Crowley takes the ride and you would have to say that Await The Storm looks to have a strong chance of finally getting his head in front.
No qualifier in the claimer at Catterick Bridge on Saturday as there are joint top weights in that one. So the only runner for the system in w/c 10 October is the above mentioned AWAIT THE STORM tomorrow.
A system that's worked for years; always back the favourite in maiden hurdles in Ireland. The large fields ensure that it'll invariably go off at odds against. And the uncompetitive nature of these races ensure that the favourite wins more than 50% of the time.
As the joint top weight Sir Ector was a non runner at Catter's on Saturday this left Trendsetter on top weight which duly obliged at 9/4
If I understand this system correctly there's a qualifying racing tomorrow at Windsor. 2.20 Caitie 9/1.
Of all the systems in all the world why does Await The Storm keep walking into this one! I think Ron’s remark re 2YO’s is now looking perfectly apt. System on 2YO races -20. Meanwhile, on non 2YO heats -111 (after Saturday’s Catterick heat which saw the other joint-top weight a non-runner as detailed by Attivo.)
The other problem barney (as mentioned here) is older horses. Today's race will be a test as there are two 7 year olds in today's qualifier. Much as I have suggested excluding 2yo races, I would also suggest excluding any race where at least one of the runners is aged 6 or over. As mentioned in the post, "Not many people are interested in buying older horses so they can get dropped in on a handy weight knowing they won't get bought."
