Realistically, records put unnecessary pressure on teams and players. The ref probably did us a favour.
Even before we scored we looked a really good skilful side, but you always worry if you don't score. Great result..we would have lost games like this in the past. We are so good in depth now.
Seven unbeaten now and back into the top 8 of the Premier League, where we've been for three seasons. Now for Inter Milan away on Thursday. Wait - did I really just say that?!
I know this is probably obvious to some, and is something we've been working on for years now, but the way we're able to pass our way out of defence neatly, quickly and efficiently (as opposed to the tactic of old of hoofing it up the field/out of play) is looking really impressive.
But he didnt give the other one which was a cast iron pen. Burnley getting in front wouldhave been a much harder game. A bit worried when Matty went off but Steve McQueen was outstanding.
Well done to Sam McQueen! Amazing that we can replace one academy product for another and still look so good in that position. It took us 10-15 minutes to get back into our stride when Targett went off but otherwise total domination. Redmond was a real handful, looks like he's been watching the Boufal YouTube videos and has decided to up his twisty-wisty skillset. Thought Clasie had a really good game too. Romeu, VVD, Fonte all excellent. Austin put in a real shift, getting more lethal every game.
Good result - solid performance - ref helped us but the final score reflected the domination - could have been 6 or 7 goals today. Good performances all round.
Agree completely on both fronts. Austin was much more the focal point today it seemed. A liquid diamond is a beautiful thing it seems!
Delighted with that, starting to see the flowing football that we played a few years ago. It would be nice if our midfielders were more clinical but at least they are trying to shoot now. Glad Redmond got a goal, he deserved it (he was better as the wide forward when Austin when central - what a surprise!). Also well done to McQueen, he really should have started, it felt a bit like the Soares situation against Leicester where we tried to push a player that was not quite ready!
Another thing I will say is our fitness is back to Poch type levels. Under Koeman we seemed to look exhausted by the end of the game.
Agree with Dyche about the penalty that wasn't given, but I think he's wrong to moan about Jose's challenge.
Commentators weren't so aware that it was cast iron. One penalty that definitely wasn't was the one against Tadic. And yes, McQueen was excellent. Doesn't actually surprise me because I've seen him play several times and he's been excellent every time. For an LB he's got a great brain for attacking.
