all we need is 3 goals lads... thats all... should be a good game and thats all that really matters.

Its the type of game we all love as fans.

Winning it is obviously a bonus.

No. If the club declared him unfit his country cannot force the issue.

If a player isn't fit you don't play them, and definitely not start them.

Liverpool and Manchester United today issued a joint plea urging fans of both clubs to eradicate offensive behaviour ahead of the Premeir Leaguie clash at Anfield on Monday.
The last game between the club - the Europa League last 16 clash in March - was marred by offensive chantings, flares and fighting between supporters.
Both clubs ended up receiving a UEFA fine for illicit chants and punished for the throwing of objects by fans and crowd disturbances, with United fined £44,342 and Liverpool £43,577.
The Reds were also sanctioned for setting off fireworks and a late kick-off, while United were charged for stairways blocked at their stadium.
Liverpool had to pay for damage caused by fans at Old Trafford with £15,290 of the fine suspended for two years.

The songs about the Hillsborough and Munich tragedies have proved particularly offensive.
Now the clubs are are calling on fans to help eradicate any offensive or discriminatory behaviour ahead of the Monday Night football clash.
They said that while they continue to work together and respect the great rivalry between them, they will not condone any offensive or discriminatory behaviour in Anfield or Old Trafford.

A joint statement said: “Both clubs, their supporters and football fans around the world are looking forward to this historic and passionate match between two of the sport’s biggest and oldest rivals.
“There is great rivalry between our fans and we ask all supporters to be respectful and help eradicate all forms of offensive and discriminatory behaviour from the game.

“If any supporters are found to be engaged in any form of offensive or discriminatory behaviour by stewards or via CCTV then they will be immediately removed from the stadium, risk arrest, prosecution and be reported in accordance with the Club’s ground regulations.
“This is an unrivalled fixture in the Premier League calendar and we thank all fans for their continued support in this important area of the game.”
Sky describe Liverpool and Manchester United games as the biggest club games in world football with an estimated 700m people in over 200 countries likely to watch the game.
A spokesperson from Kick it Out added: “Both Liverpool and Manchester United should be commended for this proactive approach ahead of this important fixture.
“We always encourage supporters to report any form of discrimination they may see or hear. Our reporting app, which is available to download from the App Store and Google Play, allows users the option to attach photos and videos.”

I am going with Paul Merson.
Considering the way Liverpool press high, I think Man Utd will struggle to open the game up.

Big early season game even without the narrative.

Win and (I believe) we end our nightmare opening in the top 4, gain a massive mental boost and enter a stretch of favourable fixtures until Christmas.

Lose and we will end our nightmare opening slightly off pace and take the shine off our good start (but remain in a good position to catch up).

For United anything less than a win leaves them with a poor start to the season imo.

I think the key for us (with our defence and squad compared to City, Arsenal etc) is momentum. Monday could really send us up a level.

Is there really such a thing? We do better against teams that come at us, not smaller teams who are playing for a point. Consider the Burnley result in comparison with the others this season.

It would be fantastic to get through the hard part of the season unscathed, but some of the smaller teams may be more difficult than the big teams (for us).
