I'm a little bit worse for wear as we had the funeral for my good friend Billy Franks today. All week I've been playing one of his songs at home, I said to my wife have a listen to this song and how it now seems so poignant. Even my two young daughters love it. Yesterday I sat down and tried to transcribe the chords and notes to the song. I had them down after about an hour and it is a really beautiful song to play. The crux of this became apparent today when my wife Kim and I walked into the chapel and she pointed to the order of service and said they're going to play Angel at your Elbow. I felt a huge lump in my throat develop and I could see that that she had a tear in her eye, and that for me sums up the emotion and power that music has over us. I urge you to have a listen to my friends song. As with most songs it may not resonate after the first listen. But after two or three hearings the haunting melody and vocal may stay with you and grab you. An Angel At Your Elbow - Billy Franks
