Since there is a plethora of more knowledgeable and wise posters than myself on this forum, I thought I may seek advice to anyone who knows or has dealt with the murky waters of employment laws before?

    My situation is this:
I've started working for a company about 2 months ago & at the interview informed them that I had a holiday booked for the end of this month. When I got the job I went through procedure and filled all the request forms required. I was told I had the holiday approved officially (so confirmation they would honour it which was tantamount to me signing the contract for the job in the first place).
However, having seen the published rota for the week earlier today I have seen my employer has me down as working on the last day of my holiday (when I'm still abroad).
I have been given no notice of this prior to the rota being published and have a receipt of the holiday request form, as authorised by my manager.
I've been looking for the past few hours on the Internet for any situation similar to mine and there isn't much advice in the way of the law regarding this.
Just wondering if anyone on here knows what my rights are?

N.B I am going in on my day off tomorrow to see my manager about this, but would like to be best prepared incase things do get heated (they are quite a shouty person - quick to raise their voice rather than talk to someone politely).

If anyone can give some advice I'd be very grateful!

It is more than likely a geniune mistake on their part TS. I'd just broach it and ask them to amend the rota. They can't refuse, you have already followed the correct procedure for requesting the holiday and have the completed acceptance form so they don't have a leg to stand on.

How long have you worked there? Less then 6 months? Were they aware before you took the job about dates?

You have confirmation. You'll be Ok.

Father in law is an employment law specialist.

This, without the father in law bit..... I still own my own testicles ;)

As DT said it could easily have been a genuine mistake so will be best to talk it through with the manager.

Cheers for the advice from the four who helped. I went in and the boss didn't seem to pleased and tried to say I hadn't booked it until I pulled out the form with their signature on it! This then caused them to turn tail and they became nice as anything to me.
I've been promised that they will change it on the rota now, especially since I informed them politely that I will be abroad until the night of the day in question and changing my holiday was non-negotiable.
If they don't stay true to word I've managed to find somewhere online that states that the employer could/would be liable for damages or any costs incurred if they did attempt to proceed in causing me to change my holidays (doubt it should now come to that though).
