Hobbs was **** last season too though. We wasted our money, any decent manager wouldn't have signed him after his last loan spell, much less made him captain. Anybody want to have a guess at how many clean sheets we've kept when Hobbs has started?
Hobbs was good tonight, both centre backs were chasing shadows all night because of how much the midfield let them through. I didn't see a single defensive error by Hobbs or Chester.
Watch the highlights. You'll see a MASSIVE clanger from Hobbs that really should have ended in Phillips scoring.
Was that when he hit the post? I think I vaguely remember him feigning a shot which Hobbs bought and it lost him a yard which let Phillips shoot. More of a bit of skill by Phillips than a mistake by Hobbs.
Hate this scapegoat mentality, you are spot on with that analysis, if anything Koren didn't contribute enough but I wouldn't come on here and say he's '****' and the strikers didn't finish, those were the problem areas, as well as the defence being exposed. Moaners will moan and haters will hate though.
Really? You didn't see Hobbs 'pass' 5 yards straight to a b'pool player to allow him a run at goal? Leave his man in an onside position 5 yards ahead of him? Tangle with Philips on the edge of the box?
Give the lad time and a bit of support at games and he'll come good. Confidence player who when on his game, is excellent.
Takes an opposition fan to take an objective view, well said BossFox. Unbelievable comments on this thread.
Hobbs distribution was poor but i put that down to players around him hiding. The same as Gerrard last season. The opposition want him to hit the pass so his teammates need to help out. Of course he got done by KP, apart form the French Tickler tool everyone knows KP is a class act. It was a pleasure to see him tonight, what a smashing touch he still has. Though Theo still thinks Adebola is on apar with him!!!!hahha
If anyone's going to be the scapegoat, I'm surprised we're picking Hobbs. Thought Gulasci was bloody awful tonight and could have cost us at least 2 more goals, not a fault for the goal of course but he was worse than Guzan when it came to decisions.
Jesus christ fellas! Was the goal Hobbs fault?!?....NO! Should Fryatt and Simpson scored...YES! At the end of the day if we finished our guilt edged chances we would have won...we never so we lost to a goal from nothing. To blame any of the defense is absolutely ridiculous. Some people have no idea about football whatsoever! Idiots!
Looks like there's another new poster who's seriously going to piss me off. This is a forum. We debate things. If you want to randomly insult everyone for attention, give Jeremy Kyle a ring. I'm sure he'll be able to sort out that family problem you have. You know, the fact that your wife/sister is cheating on you with you son/nephew.
I don't have a wife, however I do have a sister but we are in no way having a sexual relationship so that denotes your coment devoid of further analysis! Teams lose games that they shouldn't is my point! The reason we lost tonight was nothing to do with Hobbs...we failed as a team to score and we failed as a team to keep a clean sheet, henceforth we lost the game, no one individual was the blame, their goal came from nothing....at the risk of repeateing myself (much like our goal Vs Swansea last season)
I'm by no means disagreeing with your opinion on the actual football, it's the way that you go about it which, after seeing only two of your posts, is already irritating me. You make fair points in footballing terms which I have so far agreed with but calling everyone idiots and saying that people have no clue about football when many of them have been going to City for years, even decades, is just simply pathetic. Oh, and the inbred thing was just a random insult. I feel quite ashamed already, it was a comment worthy of our 'saviour' banterman
He needs to improve, that's why he is here. Let's hope he does, he is not and odd man out and a few of them are in the same boat. He is not 5hit, he is average. That is all.
He wasn't '****' that's a bit over-reacting imo - yes he made mistakesand so did a few of our other players - he can't be that bad afterall he got player of the season at Leicester didn't he? i think he just need's time. i just hope he isn't going to be everyone's scape-goat like Harper was last year. just remember Swansea lost their first match and look what happened to them.
If people are say hobbs was **** what about fryatt caught offside countless times ball watching countless times and how many touches does he want before he gets a shot away when hes through one on one and we know he can put them away, collectively we lost the match was not just down to hobbs there was mistakes all over the field.... On a plus note Brady looked quality.
The problem I have with Hobbs is that he "looks" crap. What I mean by that is that part of being a good CB is to inspire confidence in the rest of the defence. Chester (sorry to harp on about him) is a prime example of this. He sits, he waits, and 99% of the time pics his moment correctly to go in for the challenge. Hobbs runs around like a headless chicken challenging anything that moves. He is not assured. Didn't think he had that bad a game last night, certainly not as poor as Adebola or McKenna, but when Blackpool started to ping the passes around in that opening second half period, I had to look away when Hobbs was near the ball. The really worrying thing for me is the stubborn loyalty NP has shown in him so far. When, if ever, will he drop him?
Staggered at the grief Hobbs is getting on here. He wasn't outstanding but he was far from being poor. He clearly isn't very comfortable on the ball but that weakness is more than eradicated by his strengths.
