Really fair point mate ....however O'Shea played something like 28 games for Man Utd last season so for me a player signed who has the experiance he has over a young 22 year old 3 million pound player who has barely ever kicked a ball in anger for Utd would not fill be with as much excitment...everyone to there own I suppose...we seem to adding oldies to the squad Bellamy the next one they are saying ....a knob but a good player all the same.

Surely you're relieved to be adding to your squad, even if he is unproven at EPL level?

He's turned out some pretty good performances in a blue U21 shirt.

I'm happy is this comes true. Huge talent that hopefully can show his potential with us

I've been unimpressed with him when i've seen him play for Man U but it is also obvious that he has the abilities to be a great player.

I say give him a chance. Like it was said on the Sibierski thread yesterday, most weren't happy with that signing but he turned out to be great. He might just need a change of scenery, more regular football and a bit of confidence.

Aye, a lot of Man Utd fans seem to think he's just lacking confidence. Maybe a case of too big a step too soon? Might find his feet with us.

Potentially much better than Routledge anyhow.

I think the OP is missing out an opinion which represents my opinion; satisfied. He's not Bad player just because he didn't succeed at united, he could well do a very good job for us. He might feel a bit more at home up here what with this revolution francaise we're having.

Oh and for those who say Fergie doesn't let a good player go- pique, Rossi, forlan and van nistelrooy to name a few...

you actually have a point. We do need more players (It's just midfield isn't the area in most need)

Not excited by this whatsoever. Will give him a chance though, obviously. I'm just really not bothered by it. He's just Routledge's replacement really. I'm kinda thinking though that maybe we've just 'splashed some cash' a bit to make it look to the fans like we're actually spending money..

I'm not sure. If this is one of the last signings we're getting this summer I'll be annoyed

I'm not sure why we're signing him before we sign a LB, ST, CB, or LB.

Not a bad signing but I hope he isn't a replacement for Barton.

And let's just say, it's a good job we've got Cabaye to cover the looks department...

Obertans first touch of the ball is to always run it out of play, im now starting to think this is some sort of cure to one of his superstitions..

Anyway for 3mil isnt to bad really, good back up if anything and may help french players settle in...

We may need to sign some English players to help the english players settle in at this rate............. all french squad!

Honestly, i'm quite happy with that. At times he's looked decent, other times...sh*te. But he's 21 and has time on his side, pretty much Routledge out, Obertan in....can't complain

Been pretty busy last couple of days haven't checked any transfer news, are we definitely signing him? If the £3mill price tag is correct then I'm happy, call me daft but I think this will be Routledge's replacement. We are only spending 1 million extra so in my opinion it's worth the gamble.

When he played for Man Utd which was hardly at all i thought he was fairly crap tbh. Would have preferred the money to have gone towards a decent striker. Just more frustration for supporters who are willing the club to bring another striker in. Ashley must be having a right laugh at us

He's got to be better than Routledge at least, should be a decent upgrade/replacement for him. I always like a player willing to run at defenders and take them on too.
