In essence yes, but the low watt ones out now are rubbish, so you burn just as much electricity now as you did before

Aso the EU want to limit wattage on kettles, again good in theory but a bit of Physics would show otherwise.

No but I prefer a stronger vacuum cleaner. I have two dogs and they like to bring garden stuff into the house.

    Evidence?
Bizarre that this topic should come up as yesterday my partner was showing me a new hairdryer from Dyson she wants which drys hair three times quicker than any other.

It's available here so must be under the limit.

Get a Dyson mate. More suction than Linda Lovelace, when I clean my carpets it pulls up cash from behind the neighbour's sofa.

Google Thermodynamics, you will find your answer.

But here is one example (not mine)

To raise the temperature of one litre of water from 15°C to boiling at 100°C requires a little bit over 355 kilojoules of energy. An “average” kettle in the UK runs at about 2800 W and in the US at about 1500 W; if we assume that both kettles are 100% efficient than a UK kettle supplying 2800 joules per second will take 127 seconds to boil and a US kettle supplying 1500 J/s will take 237 seconds, more than a minute and a half longer.

Yes indeed, you can heat faster if you use less water and pass what you require over an element.

What a lot of flag waving, whistle in the dark, rule Britannia bollocks.

The pound is sinking like a ****ing stone, you cretin! It's just hit a 31 yr low against the dollar.

You'll be bossed around by your beloved Tories instead, you ignorant, obese, self serving moron!...

The 'being bossed around' argument he keeps posing is brilliant isn't it.

We don't want Johnny Foreigner telling us we can't have massive vacuum cleaners but we've no problem with the Tories re-writing any legislation they feel like changing - for good or bad. As at least they're British!
