I don't really think it's a case of what went wrong but more that Spurs just didn't let us play which stopped any rhythm to our play.
Kolorov has had a decent start to the season but the danger signs were there on Wednesday when Celtic pressed us with vigour he just isn't a good enough defender in those situations, same remark can also apply to Otamemdi who's very rash and has very poor judgement
Bravo is used to playing with footballers who's first touch is a lot better so the problems mount because of it

Not the end of the world this early in the season but certainly a marker put down by a very good Spurs side

  3. Disagree. (Well we would wouldnt we.... lol)
Although Rose certainly was sailing close to the wind a couple of times, the only foul that he committed after getting the yellow that could have led to a 2nd was the one down on the goal line, but when reviewed was innocuous, more a coming together. My worry was Wanyama, particularly in the first half, although his performance in the 2nd half was excellent. (edit - he was excellent throughout - just that the restraint he showed in the 2nd half was amazing - still strong and dominant)
Otamendi should have been booked for a blatant deliberate handball and how Sterling got away with the OTT job on Rose is astonishing. And I dont think anyone of your guys picked up a yellow, let alone a red for the penalty foul on Dele.....

Its a living shame to only receive 3 points for that.....

    Somehow 3 points seems inadequate.

Why, I think if a team scores 5 or more they should get an extra point.

Things transpired as I thought they might.
Obviously the Celtic game demonstrated how to rattle your defence.
But unlike Celtic, Spurs also have a proven quality defence.

    Spurs were excellent today.

And did the rest of the PL a favour by bursting City's bubble.

The only downside is that the Scousers' chances will be talked up even more.

That will be much more difficult today given that even the Goons were able
to score at / beat Burnley away.

Legitimately lost my voice, atmosphere down the Lane was amazing and we got a performance to match it. I don't even think the regular pessimists/ negatives can have much to moan about from today's display :emoticon-0110-tongu.

Think it was the first time we stepped out of 2nd gear for a prolonged period and it showed, having made an excellent City side look distinctly average for the most part.

I said to my Cousin before the match I really fancied a win. I'm sure a lot of you thought I was joking on the prediction thread when I predicted 6-2 but I really did feel we could knock a ton past them, their defence is average in my opinion but with the league's best striker you always fancy a goal or two from him. I felt Poch's High Pressure vs Pep's Tiki Taka would be their kryponite as it's a style that doesn't allow a second of breathing space, something City/ Pep found out the hard way. Bravo was rarely able to pass to his full backs as the likes of Son, Sissoko, Alli and Lamela were all waiting ready to pounce should the short pass be made and that was mirrored all over the pitch, the likes of Silva, Aguero and co barely had time to think about their next pass and I felt it really disrupted their usual free-flowing rhythm that sees them often carve defences open.

To pick a man of the match when your team has a played a blinder against the league leaders is so hard and I think for the first time I'm seriously stuck between who to choose, so I'll go with a ratings system to try and signal my point of view:

Hugo - 8.5 - One exceptional save to deny the deflected Aguero shot and one crucial save to stop Kelechi amongst other routine ones - could still improve his decision making with his kicking though.
Walker - 8.5 - Typical Walker performance of this season, this is the best he's looked since he burst onto the scene 6 or so years back, so consistent, so hard to beat and bombs it down that right hand side to support the attacks.
Toby - 8.5 - Best CB in the league, no one will convince me otherwise and this performance just continues to assure me.
Jan - 9.5 - It's not often a CB has outshone Toby since he joined us last summer but Jan was ****ing amazing today, hopefully he's allowed Aguero out of his pocket by now!
Rose - 8.5 - For a man of small frame, he literally has balls of steel, doesn't care who he's up against he always gives them a battle - and often comes out on top, just like today! Went through the wars as usual with rough challenges both for and against.
Wanyama - 9.5 - Beast... Absolutely bullied that City midfield and helped protect Jan and Toby so much. What a signing he's been!
Eriksen - 8.5 - Seamlessly able to play CAM or CM with ease, when played deeper like today I see a few similarities to Modric, really dictated things.
Sissoko - 8.5 - His best game for us yet, worked his arse off, if he can improve on his crossing and link-up play he could prove an excellent bit of business.
Alli - 9 - Was back to his best today and his goal capped off a great afternoon for him, links play well, runs with the ball and isn't afraid to get stuck in.
Lamela - 8 - Worked hard, good link-up play at times but shocking penalty.
Son - 8.5 - Ran, ran and ran even more to give the City defence a real tough time, got a lovely assist for Alli to add to what's been a superb few weeks for him. Tired near the end and perhaps should've come off 5-10 mins earlier but he never gave up, great decision to start him in the 9 instead of Janssen.

So Jan and Wanyama tied in highest rating, both were incredible... I'll give MOTM to Jan I suppose, Big Vic has already picked up my choice for the award about 2 or 3 times already.

Lovely stuff though boys, a great Sunday!

Wow, just wow. That was a magnificent performance from start to finish. The first 45 minutes was the most complete performance I have seen from a Spurs side for ages and ages. City were outclassed, outfought, out passed throughout the game. And at long last, a decent atmosphere inside the stadium.

Wouldn't want to pick a MOM, as all were excellent, would quite happily give them all a 10. Great to see one of my all time Tottenham heroes, Steve Perryman there and great to see him looking so well.

But is it Pochettino wearing a suit or tracksuit that determines the performance ... ??

After 11 hours of PL open play, an opposing player finally manages to put one into the net...his own.

Either he grows a beard or he shaves every day. Anyone who goes halfway and regularly has a stubble, shows signs of laziness in my opinion.

THFC is the greatest club in the land. Any manager of our club should be clean shaven and suited on a match day.

We were having a good laugh at that lino in the pub. To be fair to him, he kept calling them against City in the 2nd half. He got more air time than half the players (the city ones)
