Skelton has two running at Uttoxeter today and both WIN. Just seen my mate who was talking to the trainer a couple of days ago. Don't know what prices they are but probably short enough.

It fair to say its not the greatest card for Arc day and with several short price favourites it isn't the greatest betting card either.

For the Arc itself it's interesting to see Makahiki has begun to drift already. A bit of an enditment of the shambles that antepost betting has become. I will giving Found another go given the fact that this has been the plan for her all year. She ran a good one at the Irish Champions Stakes and if she comes on again from that she has got every chance. Postponed is the one they all have to beat with his growing list of group one wins. I wouldnt rule out New Bay either. He was up with the pace last time when it clearly suited to be held up. He stayed going to the line to finish fourth then which was a credible performance.

The opener on the card looks one of the better betting races and I will give one more chance to Promise To be True. She was poor at the Curragh but that was a strong race and she looked a good prospect on her first two starts. So I will have a go at 5/1.

I'm really looking forward to seeing So Mi Dar run in the Prix de l'Opera. She has won all her races with a bit to spare so far and should she do similarly in this she could be capable of anything. But at odds on I'll be watching without a financial interest.

Here's hoping with get some good races and best of luck with your bets.

Good luck Mick <ok> Value at Risk trying the big ones again tomorrow. He's 4/5! If he was guaranteed a clean round the price is a licence to print money but I'd want to see him complete first. Hopefully he will and he gains the confidence to go be a top performer over fences this season. He looks a chaser doesn't he ???

Nicky has Hargam over at Tipp...Enda Bolger must be taking him for 4 mile hunter chases off Hendo after this run then!

The Grade 3 novice hurdle looks competitive at Tipp...Penhill, Timiyan, Bel Sas and Balzac Turgot line up looking to make a stamp at a higher level.

Henry De Bromhead flying just recently, maybe the Potts' issues with him left a cloud over his effectiveness to train...burden lifted now it appears and winners flowing in. No trouble there.

Top racing at Chantilly also with a distinctly average Arc amongst a great race card. Looking froward to those sprints, England hold the aces but can anything upset the apple cart?

Top racing for October 2nd as the flat begins to wind down and the Winter game starts to kick into gear...

Alpha Des Obeaux is very interesting on chase debut too STH - about the only horse to get anywhere near Thistlecrack over hurdles, be fascinating to see how he goes over the big ones. Brilliant card at Tipperary today, hope we don't have too many split screen races with ATR showing the pish from Chantilly.

Anyone watching the Ryder Cup last night? Christ almighty an awful lot of those yank fans are an absolute disgrace. It was all over social media last night the nasty, personal abuse McIlroy suffered. All for creating a rowdy, passionate, loud atmosphere but seems our American friends go a step too far. Mcllroy did totally rip them a new one afterwards mind you! Him and Pieter's were superb, can't say much positive about the rest of the team though. Westwood's career of bottling it took on new levels on the last hole, and left us with no chance today sadly.

A slight word of caution on ADO in that Mouse usually leaves his well short of fitness in their openers. I remember doing my nuts on said horse when he made his debut over hurdles as I'd heard how good a prospect this fella was rated to be! He should improve stones for a fence.

Lovely card for this time of year indeed. The big hurdle race is decent.

Yes Beefy they can go overboard at times. Most of the fans are good but you will always get the odd bad apples so to speak. Garcia's putting destroyed himself and Kaymer on the front 9, two unfortunate puts lipped out then Sergy missed a 2 footer and a 3 footer. Gifts. Paddy Reed absolutely burned the course up. Himself and McIlroy out today, I hope Rory takes him down and Europe can still do it. Great individuals and they will all feel at home in playing the format they are most comfortable with today.

Agree re Alpha Des Obeaux...I had a feeling he may not be fully wound up. Look at Grotesque yesterday for Mouse. He may be good enough to get away with not being 100% though.

Now if those Arc enthusiasts can stay quiet and give the rest of the forum a chance <laugh>

Agree on everything you say STH! Garcia's putting all day was painful viewing, Kaymer's game was pretty much off completely. Willett actually impressed me at times, he's been so average since the Masters I wasn't expecting him to contribute much. Pieters has been superb.

Yeah I've a lot of love for Patrick Reed, he's an American hero, shame I backed him the week before he hacked up in one of the Fed Exs <doh> His overall game is excellent, shows Spieth up as being the pitch and putt artist he is with the long game of an average Tour pro <whistle>

The Prix Marcel Boussac has been a happy hunting ground for Ballydoyle but Promise To Be True does not look good enough on her ordinary showing in the Moyglare last time and I have to go with Frankel’s daughter TOULIFAUT as she has all the necessary credentials. I just hope that Jean-Claude Rouget does not win with his second string First Of Spring, as he has done that a couple of times this season!

I cannot see anything that I really fancy at the prices in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère, especially with two supplemented.

Whilst I respect Jemayel and Speedy Boarding in the Prix de l’Opéra, I expect So Mi Dar to win comfortably. Limato looks similarly obvious is a poor renewal of the Prix de la Forêt. I would like to see Mecca’s Angel sign off with victory in the Abbaye but at the odds I will not be getting involved.

The Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe itself presents something of a conundrum. My ante post bet never made it to post and this year’s short-priced favourite Postponed was last year’s ante post bet at 20/1. Whilst he is the best horse in the race on ratings and I would like to see the best horse win, I would not be gutted for the owner if he was beaten because he is a prat.

Assuming that the middle draw is better than a high draw, the Derby winner Harzand has got to have every chance, especially with his pacemaker drawn in one.

The problem is that many of the fancied runners have double-digit draws, so tactics could be a big factor and which jockeys get the best positions and do not use up too much horse early could be critical. The Ballydoyle trio have it all to do but I expect that Frankie may try to make a lot of use of Order Of St George because he is a stayer.

I have no idea what Christophe Lemaire plans to do on Makahiki but I do feel that in an average year this has to be the best chance of a Japanese victory; however, I do not expect to see him until late in the race as he never wins by far. Back in May, I could not see the Japanese sending a three year old over but he is here trying to go two better than dad.

Silverwave has been trained for this and with his single figure draw I think he has a serious chance and is overpriced; however, despite her draw, I am going with the Prix Vermeille winner LEFT HAND, as the form was franked on Saturday by The Juliet Rose winning the Prix Royallieu and she is the only three year old filly and gets all the allowances under Maxime Guyon. Back in 2012, the owners’ unfancied Solemia (same trainer) floored a Japanese raider – will history repeat itself?

Really really fancy Order of St George in the Arc, have fancied him all week and had £20 to win @ 20/1 earlier in the week, obviously can't have anymore on now i'm not in the UK but god i'd love to have some more on him, just can not get away from it, been in my head since Dettori was announced to ride it

Cracking racing at Chantilly today. Can't wait to see several races. Favourites should have a field day.

13:10 Prix Marcel Boussac (Fillies' Group 1) (2YO only). Cracking 2yo race and, as the betting may suggest it looks to be between Toulifaut, Dabyah and Promise To Be True, Slight preferenc on pedigree for the Frankel filly

14:20 Prix De L'Opera (Fillies' Group 1) (Class 1) (3YO plus). So Di Mar was my outside fancy for the Arc and I fully expect her to win this. The surprise could be
Pleascach making her reappearance after over 12 months off the track. On form she has a chance of giving the selection a race

15:05 Qatar Prix De L'Arc De Triomphe (Group 1) (Class 1) (3YO plus). Can't see anything beating Postponed. Found finds it difficult to be out of the first 3 so she must be an option for the forecast. The Japanese colt is the only improver in the race so could be battling for a place with New Bay and Left Hand. I just think Postponed will be too strong over the 12f and will make it as tough as possible for the others in the last 4f.

16:35 Qatar Prix De L'Abbaye Longchamp (Group 1) (Class 1) (2YO plus). Mecca's Angel will have to meet trouble in running to lose this. The 2yo should run well having beaten the subsequent Middle park winner. It is a tough race for 2yos though

17:15 Qatar Prix De La Foret (Group 1) (Class 1) (3YO plus). Limato is a favourite of mine having been there to witness his incredible run last year. He surely will make amends this year

Great start but couldn't be confident anyway in the opener. Should get better from now.

That looked like a very rough Marcel Boussac. Clearly the locals were not expecting the foreign raiders to turn it into a proper test. Absolutely no idea what Mendizabal was playing at on Toulifaut: he managed to find all the traffic trouble going, even in the last two furlongs he tried to go for a run between two beaten fillies when there was clearly no gap. Hope he does not know too many Japanese expletives when he meets the new owners post race.

The bookies will be quite happy with that result because they could not give Wuheida away as she drifted out from 6/1 to 10/1 even though she went into the race one-for-one.
