Who do you think it will be?

I would hope Eddie Howe would get it.

He is a nice bloke and plays the game the right way.

Not Eddie Howe (yet) too young, much to learn and develop and the way the press would crucify him when the inevitable 'golden generation 2.5' fail against the mighty Faroe Isles could seriously damage his future. If i was him I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole for at least another 2 decades

Ideally who I would want would be Wenger (contract up next year and Arsenal seem to give him a lot of grief and might be thinking of moving on too), cant think of an English manager (outside of an older more seasoned Howe) that should even have a sniff of the post...buuut..I thought that with FSA too..and what do I know compared to the mighty cutting-edge institution that is the FA.

Pardew? lock your wives away and get 3/1 he headbutts a world cup winning manager and 2/1 a semi finalist?
    Bruce? ...<laugh><laugh><laugh>
    Redknapp?: <laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh>
erm..... I am all out of ideas

Definitely Howe out of all those. England needs to do what Germany did, get a young manager, and let him build a team, even if it takes 5 years. Rooney, Cahill etc need retiring.

Either that or get Klinsmann in with an english assistant who will get the job after. Again, basically what germany did.

    Howe definitely.
Don't understand why he is too young. He's old enough to manage, I'm not sure why England job needs to be considered different

Sean Dyche? Did well at Watford. Got dismissed despite helping them to their highest position ever at the time.

Also helped get Burnley promoted and knows how to motivate a team which is exactly what we need.

But I'd personally take the Bournemouth manager Howe.

No. No. NO. Not Klinsmann. Literally anyone but Klinsmann.

What's the point of an England team with a bloody German manager? It would be like having Niall Quinn managing Newcastle.

I think they'll go abroad - if so I'd like Bielsa or Gallardo.

    I'd prob go Hoddle

I agree with Nobby that Howe shouldn't touch it with a barge pole yet. From a purely football point of view, there is no reason why he isn't good enough to be given a shot. It's all the other **** we have that goes with the job that could ruin a promising career.

I don't really mind who gets it as long as they are half decent. I'd even be really radical and say that if we do well in the next four games then I don't mind if Southgate is allowed to carry on (he wouldn't be my choice, but I'm all for not dropping people if they are doing a good job). In an ideal world though, I'd like a proven, older manager who has experience of dealing with all the **** that goes with the job, and can work with the players he has given, rather than having to buy success. I'm not sure he'd take it, but my first choice would be Wenger.

Allardyce please, he's as clean as a whistle and will win us the World Cup, yes?

I'd exhume Joe Harvey, he knew how to beat foreign opposition.

Wenger working with/followed by Southgate for me. Wenger to give us some credibility and identity, Southgate for continuity then develop a set-up like Germany of continuance, so following Southgate should be Howe.

Looking at the success of Moneyball in the US, I'm a fan of using a statistical approach to appoint the next manager.

Only one Englishman has a 100% win record while managing a national side. He has to be appointed, no questions.

(I'd like to state for the record that I have been offered no financial incentive for offering this opinion, and any claims to the contrary are part of an entrapment campaign by the gutter press)

James 'Smithy' Corden. He'd be better for team morale than the recent batch. <ok>

**** it. Give it to Shearer and see what happens (not relegation, before some smart arse Mackem chips in <laugh> ). How much worse could he be? This is basically what Germany did with Klinsmann - novice manager with a high profile and a winning mentality - if people are wanting to copy the German 'blueprint'.

I'd love to see Alan Shearer in the job, but I do worry that tactically, he's a bit inexperienced.
Sitting on the MOTD sofa being told what to say doesn't count.
Neither does employing Iain Dowie as your assistant!

What's the worst that could happen? Getting beat off Iceland? I'm thinking of a high profile appointment in the prima donna players' eyes who they might actually respect and be inspired by. Not many who could fit that bill to be honest. I want the England team to start having the mentality of a winning team and go out on to the pitch thinking 'we are England, and we are going to impose ourselves on the other team', not this petrified, sideways passing, garbage we perpetually churn out. ****ing Hodgson, Allardyce, Bruce (?). FFS when will it end. Even Capello looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights.

And MOTD doesn't come into it whatsoever. If someone else fits the bill other than Shearer then give it to them. There aren't too many who have Shearer's status in the game, at least to English players.

But would they be able to pass sideways and backwards with authority under Shearer? Go forward and you increase the risk of losing by losing the ball, getting caught attacking etc.
