When I was in the Army I went to Jasper and fell in love with the place, so beautiful there, one of the reasons I decided to move to Canada, that and the Women
This Texan loves visiting Canada. I've seen a lot of good places mentioned but so far Eastern Canada has been left out. Quebec is a great place to visit; it's like visiting France without having to put up with the French. I would also recommend visiting Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia, if not on the summer in the fall. The autumn colors are as beautiful as New England, and seafood such as scallops and lobster are as fresh and tasty as anywhere.
I enjoyed a couple of trips to Halifax Nova Scotia, as you say the seafood was great. Apart from the weather it pissed down both times I went.
I lived in the Hat from 80 to 82 and played football with and against a number of ex servicemen who'd settled in the area. I guess you're familiar with the Sin Bin, then. I hope you weren't one of the trouble makers? Just kidding, of course!
It could well of been yes Had many fights in there It was either a ride back with the RMP or home with some local lass
Aye turn left out of the gates and an hour in a taxi to Medicine Hat or righr and a three hour taxi to Calgary - was that about right, I always slept?
I had a great night out in Toronto once, had a fantastic Italian meal on a roof terrace and ended up at the Whiskey Cafe, drinking Scotch from 2.00am to 5.00 am. Probably why my pancreas is ****ed.
On a weekend there was usually a red cap riding in a squad car with a city cop. In those days, I was way too busy with my job and young family to be out and mixing it up but I do remember two incidents in stark contrast. One Saturday afternoon, two drunk morons were staggering about downtown, screaming vile and abusive language, calling people Canadian ****s etc. and threatening people. Foolishly, I intervened and somehow escaped a good hiding and managed to diffuse the situation. On another occasion, my mum and her husband were visiting from the UK and they along with me and my family were driving on a grid close to Suffield when one of my tyres blew. I'd no sooner pulled over when a Land Rover full of Brit soldiers pulled up, they jumped out and proceeded to change the tyre for me despite my insistence that I could do it. Good lads but unfortunately, I cannot remember their regiment.
We could be a bunch off C###s at times with a belly full of beer, but then all the other times we where the nicest people you ever meet!
