I had to think about it. Last season I would of taken one over staying up but I think we would have issues if we didn't go back up. Rafa would likely leave for starts.
I voted no. I just think that if we are to progress aa a club we need to get promoted this year. I dont think there is any need to not try for the cups though - we have a big enough squad to deal with all competitions.
I would take a cup any day....they cant take it away from you...leagues up and down scrimping and scraping around the bottom of the epl year after year... **** it give me a cup then they excitement to go up......
If trophy means League Cup or FA Cup then it has to be a trophy. As Any says if we go up I'm not expecting PL glory plus I actually would like to see us win something before I have tea with St Peter.
I refuse to vote based solely on the third voting option I would like a trophy though thank you please
You have even less chance of the latter than us winning a trophy after your cheating ways on the headline game. Have to admit though you have improved this year - although running the game but not then having a vote and a winner makes it a bit pointless.
Trophy of course. We would still have the clout to go back up another year. It's been 61 years since we last won a domestic trophy ffs.
Cup over promotion?! Not a chance in hell. If you offered me promotion via the play offs I'd take it right now above anything. As has been said, we would invite far too many complications if we stay down. It's one thing being down THIS year, it's been refreshing but largely due to Rafa staying. And the thing about cup wins is the euphoria is so insanely short lived these days. Even the league itself seems a distant memory; I remember the day it felt like it meant nothing anymore was when Aguero scored the winner for Man City in THAT game with QPR. Couldn't have been more dramatic yet barely an hour after the game some nobhead like Redknapp said "can they win it next year", and it was like FFS can't we just sit on this moment for a week please? And what is the Europa League and it's extra games going to do for us?!
As a supporter it has to be yes - you can't beat days like those. If you have played football at any level, and won a cup, it's hard to beat.
In isolation maybe - but maybe we should ask Wigan and Portsmouth fans how cherished those memories are when they're playing at St James Park......Exeter.
No, one season out and promotion is top of the list for me, if we don't go straight back up there is a danger that the wheels will come off as we will not be able to attract the players needed to achieve this and Rafa will go, the current positivity will go and the club may very well stagnate, a second or third year in the championship will be a killer for the club.
