Its not quite as bad as that yet, as we are by not cut adrift. Hull, Burnley, Stoke, Boro and West Brom are all catchable imo, despite to-days disappointment. Sadly though this squad is threadbare and not enough investment was forthcoming in the summer window. Moyes will have a better grasp of the situation next window and it is then that we should see the hoped for investment in the squad that will give us the edge.
Don't know why everyone is getting uptight as we have been down this road so many times before....just as always...be patient and keep the faith. This season will follow the old same pattern. Just keep our ass cheeks clenched for a while......it will improve.....it always seems too. One of the biggest issues at the moment is crosses into the box or just lie their first goal a punt into the box. If Kone is getting the big bucks then we need a big performance. I would consider bring O'Shea back for a few games with Kone along side as I think this will bring short term stability there. Leave Adnan out and bring in Khazri. Got to get this lad fired up and back into the form he showed towards the end of last season. PVA taking corners doesn't work for me....Khazri does. One win will change things....lets focus on next week and see if we can make it happen against WBA. Not down about this season just too immune to it now.....still think we can finish above Hull, Burnley and one other. I definitely do not want a managerial change this season........Haway the lads!!!!
I got the impression today that all is not well I'm the camp as well behind the scenes. Thoroughout the game there were lads shouting and pointing the finger from the very first minute. Typified by Defoe's first goal. Catts and Papy were having a heated discussion in the centre circle while the lads were in the corner celebrating. I'm all for passion etc between the lads but for me something wasn't/isn't quite right. Maybe I'm just reading into it too much.
In all seriousness mate, Divhead will turn it around. He isn't an amazing manager but you won't go down under his management.
A positive to take is that last few years when we've been losing early there's been no sign of us being anywhere near good enough. This time, for all we've lost most games, we don't look a million miles short, last year for example we looked nowhere near the required level. We are Yann M'Vila short of half decent and someone has some answers to find about that one if the worst happens. Save £6million for 5 months to lose £130million going down and Ellis 'financial blueprint' has gone full ****ing bastard on him.
We were poor the 1st half they made a mistake and Defoe does what he does best and scores. 2nd half we were better and could have scored more than one. However defending crosses and headers absolutely f**cking useless. Taking Catts off...... Ref was very very poor as well. I am out for the night and I just know I am going to get ripped one.
The ref was as one sided as I've ever seen in their favour and anyone who wants to tell me that it's in my imagination or that it always evens out can go and deep throat a heavy duty saw. Cabaye did make me laugh a bit at least with his extended pretend injury routine complete with a cute little angry fist on the turf. It wasn't so funny a bit later when he tried to hack down Watmore from behind but fortunately for everyone, missed.
I'll just add to everyone mentioning the referee's performance. It was one of the worst refereeing performances I can remember. He was absolutely awful. Doesn't detract from our poor performance thought, unfortunately.
That ref was terrible he is f**king US - Anichebe came on after about 80 mins and did exactly what Benteke did all game but got 2 free kicks against him the baldy t*at gave them every 50-50. That said the reason we got beat was not that tosser we should have won despite him it was terrible defending and that needs sorted and quickly. We seem to be missing an organiser at the back.
Like everyone I was very dissapointed with the result, but I did see signs of promise which I did not see at the beggining of last season
The fact that people think you are stupid does not mean you have to go out of your way to prove them correct
One step forward and two steps back ,a typical week in the life of SAFC. When have we ever won back to back home games ie. Palace& WBA, we always cock one of them up. As has been said we need stability in the back four and the obvious choice is John O'Shea, not everybody's favourite player but his experience is what we need. WBA aren't going to run the legs off him next week so I would give Bod a rest and get O'Shea to sort out Kone just like Kaboul did when he was here. Finally on a happier note at least we are scoring goals so what would DM give for a cean sheet next Saturday?
Hard to imagine a "must win" game just 7 matches into the new season...but this really feels like it.
I hope I'm wrong but I hope this doesn't come back and bite him on the arse. Now I know that Kazan were asking for 6m for a player in his final 6mths of his contract is ludicrous but really in the grand scheme of things??? We need him more than Kazan does, l am not holding out for him coming in January. Once again I hope I'm wrong!!!
Just my opinion here, but with or without M'Villa I actually think our squad is definitely in the worst 3 in this league and to be really honest, I think its the worst. We lack so much quality its scary.
