Alternative analysis: 8 games against teams outside the top 6 have yielded 20 points, if we take no points from 11 games against top 6 teams, and maintain that form, we'd get 85 points by the end of the season. That's 4th in the last two seasons despite writing off nearly 25% of the season.
Excellent analysis DH and I saw signs today that we are starting to play as a team and with a little more luck/skill in front of goal we could have made quite an impact on our GD!!! We also have Tettey and Jarvis to return soon.
Good to hear that did well today, from someone who regularly attends home games, and who has been critical when we have not performed well in the past.......unlike a few on this forum who only appear to be happy when they are moaning ! Top of the league after 9 games played, not a bad position to be , irrespective of who we have played !!
I agree, we looked like a TEAM again. Their keeper played a blinder to keep the score down. I know you should always score from a penalty but credit to the keeper, it was a great save. Every one of our team contributed and all deserve credit for that performance, although Klose wasn't on the top of his game today.
Pretty accurate summary from where I was sitting ILD. Aldi have got a new lager in - Rheinbacher premium at 4.5%, which is very drinkable, so probably won't be posting much more this evening.
Good for you B/H, I'm still off the booze unfortunately so you'll have to have one for me. I don't drink "sheepdip" (lager) as my Aussie mates call it, I'm a Real Ale man.
What do we think of "Basil" when he came on. I thought he looked keen and has a good touch, also he's a big old lump and should knock a few defences about.
For those of a Stout disposition, I've been tucking into a Brewdog Dog E tonight, it's a 16.1% doozy of a beer.
Alex Neil was "unconvinced" by our performance today: "We are obviously delighted to have taken the points but Burton played well and made us work very hard for the win, evenly though I thought we were the better side. I am satisfied with the result because that is the main thing in any game, to win it. As for the performance, well I thought there were a number of good individual displays but did we play well as a collective unit? I think we could probably have been better. The main thing is we are getting results, that is what it is all about. I think Burnley got about 12 1-0 wins last season to go up - you have just got to make sure you keep getting the results to get yourself over the line, although I think there have been a few good performances so far this season - Bristol City at home and Nottingham Forest away in our previous league game spring to mind. These sort of games are never easy. People see it's Norwich at home to Burton and think we just have to turn up and roll them over but football isn't like that. It was a good result and puts us in a nice position going up to Newcastle on Wednesday - we will be going up there looking for another win."
I'm not sure that's right, but I agree that we haven't played a team yet that's likely to finish in the top 6. As I said clearly we're in a great position, but I would be more confident if we'd played some of the teams that will be challenging for a top six spot at the end of the season. It's not like we've looked comfortable beating the likes of Cardiff and Wigan. Just trying to maintain a balance perspective.
Yes, normally I'm the same, but i just saw this today and thought I'd give it a try - it's rather good!! 75p for a 500ml can. Yes I'm hoping we'll see more of 'Basil' in the next couple of games -he could certainly do a job for us.
