Whatever the story may be, if it turns out to be true, and there is some pressure on JFH, for now, that's a good thing that he feels something coming down on him a bit.
Otherwise, if they are all in cahoots and talking to each other about how the media is pathetic and are having drinks together, that won't help us at all.

    I hope it's the former.

Bruce is available and has an excellent track record of getting teams up. It would be a massive job for him as I think our squad is relegation material at present. The signings we have made have been largely unimpressive and not up to a promotion chasing team. We need several players to improve the team as I think we only have around six or seven players I think would be good enough to be in a squad to challenge the top six. Put bluntly, we are a mess. And don't even mention McLaren. As for Sir Les, he has been doing the job with 'L' plates, and it shows...

Without knowing the inner workings of the club, I'm not sure I'd blame Sir Les. He has obviously been told he could sign whatever player he liked as long as he stayed within a pre arranged budget. And as is true with anything in life, you get what you pay for.

I think another problem is that in the rare occasions when they do work, the sticking plaster is then removed and we're back to square one. McClaren (and maybe Hoddle) benefited the squad when last involved, but the absence was quickly felt when he left.

I wonder whether it is also a cowardly way that the higher echelons use to undermine and eventually replace the manager or coach, as we saw with Warnock and Ramsey last time. You can see how such an appointment can make the manager's position untenable: if the appointment isn't the manager's idea, but reaps immediate benefits, then why is the manager needed thereafter?

I liked the idea of introducing guest coaches. It brought a freshness to training and the players did seem to respond to McLaren and Hoddle.
I am still struggling with the whole "out with new" and "in with the next" scenario, but I understand where everyone is coming from about the need to make a decision on JFH. I just can't get my head past the fact we keep doing this and we still keep screwing up - maybe JFH and SLF are the fodder for change by getting rid of the last of the mercenaries and bringing in new blood. Whatever is next it needs to be better than now; the future, I'm sad to say, is looking bleak.

You all wanted to build a side this is what he is doing
maybe the formation is a bit dodgy and players out
of position just needs a nudge in the right direction

    guest coaches
    what a fantastic idea
we could have a different one each week
    2 with midweek games
if they win then they get to stay another game

I think that's exactly right, Uber. The difference between Harry and JFH, is that while Harry brought in his men "to give him specialist help", JFH is having a senior man imposed on him because of failing management skills. It undermines his authority, and cannot help with respect from the dressing room, when he has to have his decisions approved by an overseeing ex-manager.

If there's an example of where this kind of arrangement has worked in a successful club, I'd like to know.

As l predicted earlier, soon we'll have more people in management than players. Great, another layer of confusion.
Get rid of them all and have a real manager that answers to the board only.
The longer we have DoF, the longer no real manager will look at us.

If not, stay as we are with JFH and hope to build over the next 5 years.

What about inviting 12 coaches in, give them tasks, each week the fans vote one off, until one remains, they get a six month contract and do it all again next year, the idea could catch on, give it a catchy name say eX player factor strictly play football or how do you solve a problem like the Rangers or just **** Off

Harry overspent and wasted money as have previous managers, JFH is now shopping with tighter controls on the purse, and getting rid of expensive mistakes.
Also, when McLaren was here before, wasn't the defence a little more solid or is that my imagination?

We'll need to move quickly as I'm hearing rumours that Apple could be in for McLaren too.

A couple of months ago I would have groaned inwardly at the prospect of Bruce, not out of any real dislike but more from a 'surely there is someone more exciting' perspective. Beginning to change my mind.

Sir Les was brilliant on the pitch, but don't you get the impression that he is a bit thick?
