I'm not even going to ask how you know that! I can see infrastructure being a major issue as well with the projected visitor numbers. It's bad enough on that stretch at peak times anyway.
Just found the comments of the bloke on the radio, it was some bloke called Nolan (sounded a bit of a nimby)... Cllr Nolan said he would support the board's application if plans for the commercial offices and hotel were either scrapped or dramatically scaled back. In the letter however, Mr Hill argues the plans for the lift and supporting plans must be accepted as a whole. http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/humb...9664795-detail/story.html#QZOPQwWxWhwZT3iS.99
One of the main people responsible for getting North Humberside postcodes replaced was Cllr Trevor Pearson from Bridlington due to his campaigning. Only positive thing he ever did do. His other claim to fame was when he lead the Bonfire Night safety campaign in the local paper telling everyone how dangerous fireworks were and how to deal with them safely.Come Bonfire Night and it was extremely successful, there was only one casualty admitted to hospital with a fireworks related injury. Cllr Pearson's son.
Why all the talk of shopping outlets on the outskirts?! No need. We have Hornsea potteries, every twenty something's child hood nightmare. I still get Vietnam style flash backs of outdoor clothing shops, crafts and remote control boats that were always out of order.
First person I remember wearing a City shirt on the BBC was Roy North on Basil Brush donkeys years ago.
its used more than you think in daylight hours - monthly farmers market, car shows, sporting events. Local feeling is that the hotels and offices are not needed as Wykeland are already turning the old Hessle golf club into a business park, on the other side of Ferriby Road - we don't need to lose any more open space, even if it is already concreted over. But the lift idea is great and everyone i know wants to go up in it if/when it's built.
We've only ever had HU postcodes. Yorkshire, Humberside, East Yorkshire, East Riding, North Humberside will all get your letter delivered as long as you have your HU postcode on there too. Poor old Trevor Pearson- a Don Quixote NIMBY figure.
Postcodes used to be determined by their local sorting office. so GY had DN as did Scunny. Surely ours should now have S, as a letter sent to someone a mile down the road in Hull now goes via the sorting office in Sheffield?
They're no longer based on sorting offices, but HU has never covered all this region, which was your claim.
