OM - I am not sure why you feel the need to be so aggressive - but that is for you to deal with. My comment to HR's post, which now seems to have been derailed, was that maybe I should think again about my preoccupation with league position when our chances of advancement in the league seem to have taken a backward step and going on a cup run instead. Does that approach seem unreasonable? Am not so sure yet but will consider it. I am wondering whether others think a cup run would be good for us and consider this a reasonable objective for us this season.
This... all day long. Of course every club is a selling club, but you can't deny that we sell more than others. By my count we've sold 9/10 first team players in 3 Summer transfer windows. I'd be suprised if any other club had done that without big financial issues or relegation. Like spaced said though, we'll see next Summer if the longer contracts make a difference.
This discussion is hilarious. We've won two games in a row and the level of posting was lower... The vultures have sensed an opportunity... Some people are just born whingers!
See my posts on other thread, not sure whether to buy my ticket n hope i can sort everything like flights etc. out later, I'll also got work at 10 on the friday. A lot of travelling to do on your own as well. Decisions decisions... I'm on nights this week though so gonna spend all night looking at flights online
I think you should watch on the television and debate with me whether Charlie's third goal was offside or not
Are you shifting the goal posts? No, Pochettino didn't pull out all the stops to win that match either in his pre-game selection of players or his subs. But the accusation has been that he didn't care at all about that match or even that he purposely punted it. A look at the lineup and substitution pattern clearly indicates to me that wasn't the case.
Disappointing that we won't be getting the Cherries (SN) or the Toffees to chew over in the next round.
Match day!!! Right so my team would be... McCarthy Cuco 2 from Maya/Stephens/Gardos/Fonte Targett Reed Pierre JWP Hesketh Long/Jrod Redmond Still enough to win the game there for me, really want Hesketh & Reed to play in particular. Up the Saints!
Just a point for consideration for the so called glory hunters................Nobody can deny our progress over the last few years up the league. Granted not in the silverware department, which it would seem to some is a great disappointment. Rhetoric from the club is that Saints have a 5 year plan for progression........trouble is........we keep having to start again and again because we have players that seem to think they are bigger than the club and need to play for some of the star clubs to get that illusive silverware. Clubs from Arsenal to Liverpool, United to Spurs....all these clubs are deemed to be better bets for silverware. Yet over the last 10 years or so has this proved to be so successful? The answer for me is no...so what is it then.....can only be money and the disillusion that because they play for a star club they will become famous. So Fame is the name of the game these days not the hunger to be the best, or need for silverware......Just money and stardom.
Agree with that team pretty much. Don't think he'll play maya and Stephens though, one or the other with fonte or Virgil. Would also be a bit surprised if hesketh and reed start. One or the other again. Would prefer Reed to start, wouldn't mind both starting just don't think they will. Hoping palace put a weird team out so we can get the nippers a nice win!
The excuse of chasing silverware is for the supporters, it's simply about wages and nothing else. We will never be able to compete financially with a large portion of the Premier League teams (unless the Chinese take over) so can't realistically expect to progress any further than where we are. Nicking a 6th or 7th place and possibly the occasional cup is as much as we can hope for o the pitch Having said that and as disappointing as that may be, we can be proud of the way the club is run financially and the Academy that continues to produce quality players
This time last year I would have agreed with every word of that. But Leicester just redefined what may be possible clubs like ours.
I'm glad to see the Saints moaning tradition doesn't just cover the last match but a match from years ago involving several players/ manager that are no longer with us. Never let it be said we can't maintain a grudge! Is this a 5 minute argument or a 3 year argument? I like to know what I've paid for.
