Thanks for the link Northolt! Loved every second of that interview - DJ is genuinely chuffed about returning to his spiritual home. He refers to other offers from premier league clubs (we know villa were interested, possibly sunderland too as bruce bought him at bham) so I think we did seriously well to snap him up. His love for the club clearly trumped being offered better wages elsewhere - how refreshing!!
DJ Campbell: I can play for England Published 12:15 05/08/11 By MirrorFootball Recommend New QPR signing DJ Campbell says he is determined to break into the England squad. The former Blackpool striker hit 13 goals in 31 games last season and said: "Every season I set myself a target. I set myself a target last year and nearly got to it and obviously I've set myself a target this year. "I've got ambitions with my national team, which hopefully one day I can achieve, and that was a big part of me coming back into the Premier League." Campbell admits it is nice to "come home" and has now targeted an England call-up. The 29-year-old rejoined the club with whom he spent his formative years yesterday, penning a two-year deal at Loftus Road to end his successful spell with Blackpool. Campbell snubbed interest interest from other clubs in the Barclays Premier League to become manager Neil Warnock's fourth summer signing and admitted this morning it is great to return to west London. "I can't wait," he told talkSPORT. "Obviously I left a great club in Blackpool but I have signed for another great club in QPR. "It is a club that I supported as a boy and I am looking forward to it. "Every game in this league is going to be hard as a I knew last season but the gaffer has a good squad here and hopefully we can all stick together and push in the same direction. "Everyone in this league can be beaten but obviously you can beaten by every team in this league so it is going to be tough but it is a challenge we're looking forward to. "There were a few clubs in for me but QPR are my home club and the club I supported as a boy. "It is the area I know very as that is where my family is from and stuff. "When I found out they were interested it was great to come home." He added: "I wanted to play in the Premiership and it's funny how a club like QPR comes up because it's the team I went to watch as a kid and my mum always said that one day you'll end up back there. "Funnily enough it's happened and I'm delighted."
