The films were consistently good but I kind of agree about the BBC programmes. They were a curate's egg
Influenced heavily by the Goon Show. If anyone says they were stupid and unfunny it reflects a mirror viewing moment.
I guess this is only tangentially related to the original post but my daughter just started playing for '08 girls team of DiF a Swedish topflight team. She's not in the academy or anything the club just runs open age group teams in parallel to their academy. We pay nothing in subs, the club provides 3 coaches for each training session, all equipment and access to the artificial pitches. You buy your own training kit but its subsidized by the club. As a result there are loads of local kids wearing DiF training kit all around the area and supporting the club. Today we got an invite for her to be a mascot at the Allsvenskan (topflight) mens match on Sunday again free of charge and including match day admission for her (but me though). I didn't apply for this they reached out to me as shes a new player. It just seems to me like a great way to win new young fans for little cost to the club instead of milking them for every penny!
It's bloody wonderful. A football club actively encouraging and trying to promote a feelgood factor in their own community. That'll go a long way, that will. Meanwhile, back in Hull...
