Ahh thanks for that (Diolch am hwnnw), it's always nice being corrected by the older generation - especially about the things they remember from their youth...
1 Bergkamp D 2 Henry T 3 Wright I 4 George C 5 Supermac 6 Brady L 7 Vieira P 8 Adams Keown/Bould Winters Dixon 9 Armstrong G 10 Safe Hands - England's no 1 11 every player that has ever played for us as they where great whilst with us but ****e as soon as they left us, and I liked and rated them all* *except a couple of ****ing dog **** CB that Wenger bought who were so ****e that I won't mention them by name.
I am pretty young tbf. Though Kanu gets in because Nigerian pride and Eboue and Jens because they were crazy, in a funny way.
Kanu was a really good player for us. I'll never forget that Hat-trick at Chelsea. He single handedly destroyed them that day
I'm almost 21, so I don't have memories of the likes of Merson, Rocastle, Davies, George etc, which is a real shame. 1. Henry 2. Bergkamp 3. Pires 4. Overmars 5. Viera 6. Ljunberg 7. Kolo Toure 8. Fabregas 9. van Persie (seriously) 10. Sagna 11. Rosicky
You would have loved Rocastle mate. He was pure skill in an age of cloggers. Also he could mix it up too and give as good as he got.
Controversial but I'd have Fabregas, RVP and arshavin in there.. Bergkamp, Henry, Seaman, Viera, Campbell, Keown, Fabregas, Ozil, Lehmann, Sagna, Rosicky, Toure, Arshavin, Pires, Wright, RVP That's 15 players who I've seen play for Arsenal who all had something special about them, something that made them seem above other players on the pitch. They were all experts in there positions, efficient at what they did but also enjoyable to watch. They aren't in order but my top ten would probably be from that lot. Most of them had serious passion for Arsenal as well. There's several more who could make the list and most have been mentioned in this thread. Of our current lot, Ozil is my favourite player hands down. He is on a different level to most players in the world let alone at Arsenal. Cazorla, Koscielny and Bellerin in years to come could well make my list as well depending on how there careers continue, they are the current players who I think are closest to entering my favourite players list.
Oh, special mention to Anders limpar too. Loved him. Cesc maybe, buy rvp can **** off any list. 1 1/2 good seasons? If we're picking a team, then I can probably name at least 5 better forwards.... Henry Bergkamp Wright Merson Anelka Kanu Smith
RVP was ahead of Kanu and Smith in terms of skill, but I agree that Henry, Bergkamp, Wright and Anelka were better players, undecided on Merson, he was skillful and scored some sublime goals. RVP could have been an Arsenal legend, but injuries and then disloyalty rules him out.
Kanu - he made me a gooner. A personal hero of mine. Nigerian pride! Henry - loved his swag. Loved his arrogance on the pitch. Made the game look cool to play. Bergkamp - loved his humility and professionalism. A genius. RVP - loved his dickheadedness. His technique was unbelievable. Loved watching him. Lehmann - A bit of madness is needed Lauren - Always went about his business and was nasty when necessary Toure - I just love his enthusiasm. His work rate and humility. Pires - Slick. Silent assassin. Eboue - He was a right laugh Cesc - Seeing him break into the first team at tender age and look like a Vet was something special. Very consistent for us.
He was very, very good but I think Henry was a much better finisher - and Anelka could arguably compete with him as well. But Wright was awesome!
I should add with my list that Adams in particular, but the whole back 5 (Seaman - and to a lesser extent Lukic included) made me love Arsenal and start supporting them, but the reason most of my list are post-Wenger players is that, while I loved players like Merson, Limpar and Parlour, I always thought that under Graham we were much more of a functional team - particularly in midfield, in comparison to the superstars (and some world cup/Euros winners) we had under Wenger like Pires, Viera, Henry, Ljungberg, Ozil ect.
I hate Arshavin, for being one of the laziest players I've seen and making nowhere near the most of his ability. Van Persie might have been a Judas but at least he didn't go on strike and disappear off to watch the F1 instead of playing for us before his move
Henry was a much better player. I think Wright was the better finisher. But that's why I went with a ..... ----------------Berkamp---------------- -----Wright------------------Henry-----
