Everton, Leicester, Liverpool, City and Arsenal have all hit good form and are getting results. Chelsea have had a blip as have united...a win is vital tbh as we need to match the form of the first 5 teams and take advantage of the other's blip. We have got decent results in the prem but have had 4 good halves and 4 mer halves...here's hoping for a great performance and result tomorrow
Poch has clearly stated that he will be rotating from the team that lost to Monaco. As others have highlighted - his definition of 'rotation' this season needs to evolve beyond last season's version of simply swapping the full backs every now and again. The trouble is that wholesale changes disrupt player's rhythm and progress and hamper our ability to develop the level of team chemistry that we saw in the second half of last season. Son is basically the new Chadli - scores his fair share and is clearly a talent, but puts in utterly anonymous displays just when you think he's 'getting it'. I've personally had more than enough of Mr Lloris for the time being. His distribution against Monaco was abysmal and he was once again beaten at his near post by a shot that many other GK's would've been positioned well enough to save. Vorm didn't deserve to be dropped for the routine win against Stoke and I would very much like that fact to be acknowledged with a nod this weekend. The chances of this happening are precisely zero though. Kane and Dier need to be locked in a room with a punchbag shaped like Roy Hodgson and only let out once they have reduced it to a mound of stuffing. Dembele showed us in 45 minutes what we have been missing for 7 games, and for me goes straight back into the team. And I think Janssen and Sissoko deserve a chance to impress out of the traps, particularly the former. Vorm Walker Toby Jan Davies Wanyama Dembele Sissoko Alli Eriksen Janssen The sheer pace and power down that right flank in Walker - Wanyama - Sissoko is frightening.
Agree 100%. "Kane and Dier need to be locked in a room with a punchbag shaped like Roy Hodgson and only let out once they have reduced it to a mound of stuffing."
Haven't seen replays of the goals from CL but I thought at the time that Lloris was, again, beaten at his near post. Personally think it was rough on Vorm to have lost his place in the team as he played really well. He only conceded one goal in his 2 and a half matches and that was a penalty.
You need to stick with Janssen. I was at the Vitesse Arnhem game against AZ Alkmaar last November, and I seen Janssen rip Arnhem a new arsehole. He was outstanding, I had never heard of him until that day as I go to watch Arnhem. Alkmaar won 2-0 and everything went through Janssen. I watched him a bit after that and he's definitely a confidence player. Once he gets his first goal, plenty more will follow, I'm certain of that. We have too many injuries at the moment to trouble you. I think it will be comfortable tomorrow, for you, I'll go with 3-0 and Eriksen to score.
WOW. Be careful big smithy , that statement might come back and bite you on the bum. I agree they'll falter but I'm not sure when.
Last season we had their number.. if we play like we did then, we'll do so again. If we start like we have done so far this season, we're gonna take a beating. I can understand the odd slow start in a season but we've been asleep for periods of every first half this season. Top teams don't do this and we need to drop the habit, fast!
Picking up the points while not yet close to full steam, is good. Pochettino doesn't have long though to get things going : 3 games before the next CL match and the PL game against Citeh.
For those of you that are streaming some games this season, what site/s are you using that work with iOS? I had 2 or 3 reliable ones last season that no longer exist, and I'm really struggling to find one that works for sky's matches. Any help would be appreciated.
Wait for the reddit page to be posted, and then you will have to work thru the list until you get select a feed that is ok for you.
Don't agree. They are a completely different team to what you faced, last season. They have better players and tactics, if they perform at the top of their game, they'll beat you. So far they look a class above anybody else in the league. Very early days but with Guardiolas record, you have to fancy them to win this league with something in hand. Edit: Maybe not so much better players, but Guardiola certainly has improved a lot of the players that were already there.
It all means nothing. They've played nobody of note yet, unless you count a severely unbalanced United. It's been a procession. They came to us last season in a similar vein and we ended up taking them apart. Get behind Stones and put the ball in the air against the 'keeper and then we'll see what they're made of. Every team has its weaknesses, it's a matter of getting at them and exploiting them. I don't rate their defence at all but we've not yet seen them have to do that much defending and they still lookeD like they were rocking 2nd half against United. Don't believe the hype!
De Bruyne is looking a cut above the rest of the league at the moment. He is easily one of the most dangerous players in the world at the moment. It's a 'what if' but I think City would've had a very different season indeed if he hadn't missed 3 months through injury. Having said that, they got off to a very similar start last season winning I think it was 6 on the trot by 3 and 4 goal advantages, but then came off the rails when a little team from Norf Lundin hammered them 4-1. It's the one thing they lacked in abundance last year: the mental resilience and fortitude to bounce back when things weren't going to plan. If Pep can instil that in them, they should walk the league.
Out of interest, how do you fancy your chances this season and do you think Moyes was the right appointment?
#THFC team: Lloris (C); Walker, Alderweireld, Dier, Vertonghen; Dembele, Wanyama; Sissoko, Alli, Son; Kane. #COYS Subs: Vorm, Davies, Trippier, Eriksen, Lamela, Winks, Janssen. <rotation> Back three !!??
Dier and Toby central, Jan to LB. Wanyama alongside Dembele, with Alli pushed forward to his usual attacking role.
