The Chairboys welcome Boro' to Adams Park for their 8th league game of the season after for the second game in a row their once impregnable defence have conceded 4 goals and now sit 22nd in the table, Boro' have amassed double our points tally and sit 10 places above us. Gaz has no new injuries to worry about and with PCH, Weston and Bean not likely to feature until October changes are unlikely with McGinn, Freeman and Southwell all set to remain on the bench. I will be at this one and will be looking for a performance and result far better than we have seen so far this season so if the lads can keep a clean sheet and Hayesy can get another brace there will be lots of happy Chairboys come the final whistle
I think this will depend to some extent on whether the vociferous section of the crowd are supportive of the team or on their backs. Any Villa-like chants will be counter productive and ensure another defeat. I'm expecting the worst and think that if Stevenage score first (or equalise shortly after we go ahead) we will lose this one.
I see this as one of the most inmportant games in our season and indeed in gazs managerial career - with pressure seemingly on him and us at the wrong end of the table. Weve played well recently but come up against 2 very good sides, with respect to stevenage they are a team we should be beating (especially if they have liburd upfront!) so today could be the day we turn our season around Having said that, it could just as easily be doom and gloom come 5pm!
I'm following this on Twitter,so far in the first 30 minutes there has been 4 tweets from Adams Park and one of those said "We're underway"
Pleased to see Southwell get a goal after 2 earlier misses, hopefully that will do his confidence a power of good.
Wycombes standing up, wycombe standing up ee aye adio wycombes standing up. Well obviously long enough to stick one in.......... (ruined my bleddy predictions this week)
Went yesterday to the game the first 20mins we hardly got going & Stevenage were better than us then we got into the game had the chances could have scored another one Stevenage seemed to go to sleep till the last 10mins which became nervous. Paris got an ovation when he came on & certainly added something extra to our game
Overall a good performance, still room for improvement but a good performance. The formation worked well, and seeing paris playing again was fantastic, a breath of fresh air seeing someone running at the defence. Credit where its due to sam wood as well - best performance in months and looked confident, no conincidence that that happens soon as hes reverted to his natural position! Still needs to back that performance up in the following weeks of course!
Totally agree with Phil and Jose slow start then played well for an hour and coped well with Boro's hoof ball for the last few minutes
Yesterday was totally the opposite to the Pompey game we came out flying in that one this one a was a lot slower start
