I posted this on the other thread, it makes sense to prove to the players to do their best & they keep their shirt, however, from what's been said by some of the players, MP is a tactician who looks at the opposition early in the week, so he may drop a player because he feels that the incoming player is better for this game, not because they cost more. http://m.hulldailymail.co.uk/mike-p...w-peter-swan/story-29715722-detail/story.html
He does. The only chance we have of alleviating the pressure on the back four is for the forward to hold onto the ball. Something he does far far better than Abel or Dio.
I`m afraid I would be inclined to start Marshall tbh, while Jakapovic has played well he has been thoroughly aided by a superb defence in front of him (in the main Davies and Jake), he is prone to panic which is evident with his woeful distribution at times, as has been seen this season. Let`s not forget attacks often start from the back, and a calm head in goal is usually responsible for that, look what happened to Joe Hart once Guardiola arrived, he was soon identified as being poor in his distribution, the rest as they say is history. It seems Phelan is encouraging the lads to pass the ball up the pitch, and I just feel Marshall would be more suited and less prone to panic attacks.
Okay, so what about Arsenal's fourth goal today? Pretty much the same sort of thing I'd say, and Jak should have saved this one. And furthermore, I'd say Jak made a big mistake for their second goal, leaving his line to reach a fairly safe ball he couldn't get to. Okay, made several good saves against Arsenal, but he made two errors that cost goals.
The second one I agree, the 4th,, I think it was just a shock & he wasn't prepared for it, Harry should have gone towards him too.
On the money these men are paid, I don't think "not prepared" is an excuse for letting in a shot from way outside the area. Okay, it didn't cost City the game, but a Premier League goalkeeper should stop shots from out there.
I'm not sure what you mean about pots and kettles, but the cash they get is a very serious issue. I'm not clear what Jak is paid, but it is tens of thousands a week for playing with a ball. I don't need to point out that lots of people struggle by for under three hundred quid a week, and many more have lousy jobs for just a little more. And then think that Jak only has to concentrate seriously hard for a few hours a week, while had working people have to keep their mind on the job for well over forty hours a week, I think Jak let in two goals today, which if his mind had been on the job he would have saved ... he is after all a very fine shot stopper when his mind IS on the job.
The tread is "no place for sentiment". Jak could be on the bench, but his mind is elsewhere when he should be concentrating on what he's there to do.
Think now is the time to make changes but feel Phelan has been in a no win situation with team selection these last 2 games. If we'd collected 1 point from a possible 6 and had made changes, he'd be dragged over the coals for it for disrupting team spirit. MP isn't flawless and will no doubt learn and adapt tactics and line ups accordingly.
I think Marshall is a better and more complete keeper with plenty of experience and as the thread says there is no place for sentiment. Also I was wondering what is happening with Henricksen, when he signed I thought he was just what we have wanted a midfielder with pace who runs at the opposition and scores goals and could play as support man to a striker. He must be match fit as he payed for Norway in the international break and is on the bench so can't be injured, just seems strange not to have seen him yet.
We have fans on here same as the manager. Cant make a ****ing decision to save their lives and frightened to offend anyone.
Was his mind elsewhere when he saved the penalty? Some just look for reasons to bag Jak, Xhaka's goal is being hailed as a great goal, it was hit with power and swerve, you say keepers should save long shots but there's a reason why goals like that go in, because keepers anticipate it to go one way, and then it swerves in the air to wrong foot them.
Xhaka is known for banging in screamers, so is Defour. The one today was just a sublime hit, there was no stopping it. Jak saved a pen and made several good saves, there's no reason to drop him.
