    ABSOLUTELYFANTASTIC 4.40 NA 7/1
Doesn't have a great win to run ratio but is now racing off a really handy mark. His last win was only last summer and was off a 10lb higher mark. Early signs are that there is some yard confidence. Should go very well.

It would be a bit unfair for me to call this a tip, so information received is probably more accurate.

My friend is in a couple of racing syndicates that own a few beasties. In all honesty, a couple of them with one trainer would struggle to outrun the Swedish Chef’s French cousin or the man from the Glue Factory. Their trainer reckons he has got them lenient handicap marks going forward – trouble is they have not been going forward very quickly to date! He had another one that never saw a racecourse at all and has been sent for retraining.

In the first at Newbury, however, the most promising of his two year olds is due to debut. The horse was originally entered for Royal Ascot but she never came to hand quickly enough to race in the spring and like a few yards in Lambourn this one was under a cloud during the summer. The yard think very highly of this filly. They got Oisin Murphy to come and ride her work. He was impressed enough that he told them to call him when she was ready to race. He would have had to ride the Balding entry had it not been withdrawn but now he is free to get on Orithia (16/1 on Oddschecker at time of writing). Word of warning – they do not want the ground to go soft. Too much rain and she will be taken out.

Problem with these juvenile maiden races – half the trainers will have told their owners that they fancy their chances first time out.

    Hello, all.

Firstly, can I just say that win, lose, draw or non-run how good it was to read the opening 2 tips on this thread. Outstanding and 2 of the best reasoned arguments I’ve read on here for a while.

Secondly, though I feel something has to be said re this. At the time of logging-on 2 out of the opening 4 threads (after the 2 marked ‘sticky’ topics) were about boxing! Why, I say why??? Put to one side the fact that I find it boring, dull and totally tedious and the fact that boxing has to be the campest sport there is. But seriously what on earth are these threads doing on a horse racing thread especially when there is a boxing section on the Not 606 forum?!? I come on here to read views and tips and exchange opinions on horse racing and very little else. In recent times some very well respected and knowledgeable members have seemingly stopped posting and numbers do seem to be dwindling as a whole. People, you ain’t going to attract them back or interest new members onto a horse racing forum by discussing boxing! Afterall, I don’t go into my local fish and chip shop for a haircut! You follow?!?

Rant over and good luck to those wagering today.

I'd been thinking about Ladweb in the Dundeed Handicap, but am put off by the drift in his price over the morning. Thought the ground would suit him and the trainer is in reasonable nick. Carrying a pound or two too many perhaps? OK, well Arctic Feeling is an old lag of mine, but is it soft enough on the sprint course for him? I wonder if this is actually a race to be left alone?

    My darts at Newbury.

    2.45 Leah Freya 3/1
Has won on heavy ground last year. Ran a credible race on her seasonal reappearance and has been campaigned as though stamina isn't an issue. Has dropped to a handy mark.

    3.20 Cymro 2/1
Four of his five wins have come with cut in the ground. Won a good race last time and the two pound rise looks lenient.

    3.55 Contrast 11/10
The only one of these to have run a mile on soft ground and wasn't beaten far in that good race.

    4.25 Aclaim 3/1
Won a good maiden on soft ground. Back in trip after winning over a mile last time. I can't have So Beloved after his last run and the thumping he got from Breton Rock in similar conditions at Newmarket.

    5.30 Lime and Lemon 5/1
In at the bottom of the weights on his first start for Clive Cox. Has been campaigned on slow ground.

    Good luck if you follow.

I was torn between 2 in that Ayr opener, one of which was already mentioned by Florida above, but I'm sticking with Dods, since I had 2 from his yard so close yesterday, so my well earned goes on Moonlight Blue. Master Bond could go well in the 3.05 ( sub plot, JC, wink wink ), though I like I'll Be Good. From the same trainer, I also like Rock on Bollinski in the 4.50.

That Newbury card could throw up anything in the conditions, so I got on Mr Scaff in the opener at 100/1 earlier.

Best of Luck to all and enjoy your weekend.

Ayr is one of my lucky racecourses. I've had big priced winners there, usually in the better class H/caps. My biggest placepot return was there too. 600+ I think.
Anyway, gonna have a tilt at the 'Bronze' today. After rating the whole field in various ways the four that stood out for me were...
    Grandad's World
    Englishman 4 win 5 place
    Twin Appeal 1 win
    Ocean Sheridan

The Listed @ Newbury (4.25) is worth an interest for me too.
    Fannaan 1 win 2 place

I'm usually happy enough with betfair SP.

Ladweb seems to be shortening a bit, so I'll give him a go.

I'm always torn with my opinion of Matt Chapman, on the one hand he's the only one who asks the questions that we want asking and isn't afraid to challenge jockeys/trainers/owners but on the other hand he's annoying as ****!

When tuning to the 'Racing Forum' on ATR on a Sunday morning my heart, mind, brain and good humour sink when I discover he is the presenter; what the f..k is going on with the ridiculous knots in his neckwear?

I know Sunday is going downhill when Chapman and McCririck appear together on my TV screen.

Give me the dry humour of James Willoughby anyday! We don't need 'our' sport to be given populist and reactionary coverage.

Late Edit; have just read that ITV will not broadcast any racing between Cheltenham on New Years Day and the opening day of the National Hunt Festival. Hope you all have access to ITV4 or Racing UK.

I like chappers! I know he's not everyone's cup of tea but would rather listen to him on a Saturday than smug arse Cunningham and McGrath.Racing is to serious these days, needs to be bit more humour inserted into it!
Nice shout on Leah Freya Doalittle!

Chapman is total quality TV imo. I actually think both him and Nick Luck are fantastic, yet both are polar opposites in style. Either of them fronting it would have been perfect.
