A nice piece by Bucky from ESPN: Curtis Davies typifies Hull City's fighting spirit in Premier League http://www.espnfc.co.uk/club/hull-c...s-hull-city-fighting-spirit-in-premier-league
I had Sky Sports News on and left the room when Arsenal took the lead, I came back in 10 to 15 minutes later and boom we were 2-1 up, that little "OMG WTF" moment was one of my favourites as a City fan.
Arsenal from the 70s have always been the team I have hated and it has stuck with me ever since. Obviously we were never rivals but it was their brand of football then, even Nick Hornby in Fever Pitch admits as much. I have friends who follow Arsenal and we enjoy the banter but to get a result with them is always a good day, better than other times Having lived in London for a number of years prior to coming here there is still an attitude of London is the centre of the universe belief. So come City stick it up them
Alas same old. Thank **** that's over for another year (piloted pro Arsenal FA cup draw permitting). Blase' Potters Bar fans, 'neutral' footy fans in all areas of the ground unable to find their seats, gawping ****s down at the front during the warm up seeing their idols. Major decisions, as always as per ****ing always, going in Arsenal's favour. Unfortunately it's CFC next so more of the same, but nowhere near as bad, thank ****. That will only leave LFC and their ****ish entourage to visit the KCOM, and other that, we might manage to avoid the travelling freak show. Looking forward the seeing the HCFC-biased pundits on MOTD tonight, instead of 'Wrighty' and 'Keowny', contesting the ref's decisions.
Wonder how much Wenger bunged the ref for that appalling performance. Arsenal where diving all over the place as I predicted and he was giving the free kicks time after time and don't get me going on the sending off. Jakopovich had a mare today and should of had the last goal covered but deserves credit for saving the penalty. How the **** didn't Cech get sent off for taking out Mbokani, the dickhead referee wasn't even going to give the penalty the linesman had to have a word in his earpiece, either that or fourth official. ****ing ref should be demoted to Sunday League.
Wonder if Cech staying on will get analysed on MOTD? The **** ran to berate the linesman on the halfway line while Arsenal getting ready to take their pen. Nauseating club with a fanbase in its own image..
I've been told he was telling the linesman Jake was still on the pitch when Jak saved the penalty. Seems Roger East forgot the rules when he blew his whistle for them to take the penalty. Cech staying on is part of the recent changes. No double punishment for the penalty. At least Roger East remembered that rule. Although I did think he'd stopped play for an injury and booked Mbokani for diving, it was that long after the foul. Highlight of the day for me was their annual acknowledgement they are still the second club in North London.
Ive been watching us for 35 years and it's the best moment I ever witnessed in the flesh. I nearly didn't get a ticket as well - train and admission was a bit pricey and I was skint - but I know after the event I'd have paid anything to be there. We - the collective 2500 or whatever it was - must've sung "don't want to go home" for 20 minutes after the final whistle and we all meant it. Literally. Grown men who were strangers and placed next to each by nothing but circumstance were hugging each other. A wonderful, wonderful day.
Keown is very strange. I heard that he was regarded by his peers as being a bit dim at a couple of his former clubs.
Not sure if it's been mentioned on here, but on the penalty replay you can also see Robertson pointing to the side Sanchez was going to put the penalty.
In most of the media reports of the game, they choose to gloss over the effect of going down to ten men when we were already 1-0 down had on the game, as if it were an irrelevant detail, and Arsenal's superiority had nowt to do with numerical advantage. Ditto the ref bottling sending off Sanchez (Wenger hooked him realising he was on his 3 final warning) and the ref's mysterious delayed awarding of our pen. At least MOTD did scrutinise the delayed pen a bit, but overall the feeling that contentious decisions usually seem to favour the Top 4 has been conveniently ignore by the MSM as uusual.
