3 goals, 3 points but is it just me that isn't 100% happy with the performance. I was praying that we scored a goal from open play or one that wasn't gifted to us. I was worried in pre-season about our defence and lack of cover and last night continues my worries. Those few occasions that Brugge got through would have been buried by a better team. If we can work on our defence (with Amartey covering) then id be cautiously optimistic
Not just you, I've had the same thoughts. A couple of reasons to not feel too concerned I think is that 1- you can only ever beat what's in front of you and 2- we know it's not a lack of quality and I think we just need our full confidence back. Results like that will do it
Maybe Slimani in there has given Mahrez more confidence, you could tell that theres an understanding there. Slimani showed us what a big man up front should do for the team, great hold up play, great one-twos and still got about enough to be a nuisance. Only negative was the cynical push for me (and occasionally dribbling the ball out of play for some reason ), a good 60 minute showing, probably rested like Vardy was for Saturday. Another shakey Hernandez performance imo, but can't deny his effectiveness at throw-ins. Great result, although Bruge gift wrapped a couple of goals for us, hopefully we can create more chances in future matches.
Only saw highlights on ITV so couldn't comment on the performance as a whole, but the result was fantastic. Yes the centre of defence does look very slow. Liverpool exposed that as well. But also, am I right in thinking that all Hernandez's long throws are illegal? Just watch where his right hand ends up after every throw and it's obvious he's pushing the ball from behind rather than holding it at the sides.
Nampalys Mendy is back now. Amartey is just cover and has done ok by all accounts Yes he has made mistakes but he is young and its always a hard task to replace Kante
Amartey was great yesterday ... he is young and still learning but he rarely wastes a pass and is very hard to knock off the ball ...
