In all honesty, and I'm really not trying to get into this "let's attack LL thing" but how can I have an intelligent conversation about how a striker directed a ball into the back of the net from 6 yards and whether he did it intentionally or not?? What else was he trying to do if not score? The reason I enjoy reading match reports from WJ (just as an example, he's not the only one) is because he gives an unbiased view imo. He only judges on what he sees in that specific game and previous games don't even come into it. He might say Wood was useless one game and the next say he did well. And this applies to every player in a Leeds shirt. Whether people agree with him or not is a different matter, but he tries to be honest in his opinion. Criticising a player for scoring is beyond my capabilities of debate to be honest. Surely you can see at that point it comes across as a personal vendetta rather than an honest deep down opinion?
Totally agree, I too look forward to WJ's match report I can take bits out of Glory's match reports when he goes but I know it will slant towards a negative outlook, I still enjoy reading them though and if he does offer praise to a player you know that player must have been outstanding. Now we have the fairly new guy Jammy07 attending games and giving us another view, slightly more positive towards some players than WJ but an interesting assessment. All the same, those that attend and take the time to share their findings it is much appreciated
Yes I have been to most games so far, and looking back at replays of all the goals afterwards I really cant blame him for much. There may be a lot of people asking for him to be dropped, and after QPR i'll admit that it makes me nervous every set piece, but since that howler I really don't see how you can fault him. The defence has been a shambles in recent weeks and only in the last 2 games has it improved. To fault him for last nights goal is just plain rubbish. Do you want to drop him for someone who is equally as flappable, if not more? In an ideal world we wouldn't have either Green or Silvestri, but I don't really see any merits in dropping one for the other.
Big difference is WJ isn't a **** and goes to games at all levels. You are and don't! Why don't you **** off back to JA?
I've got to agree with LL here - Woods was clearly trying to miss that sitter but the useless cnut can't even do that right. In fact, he was probably under orders by Monk to miss any such chances as he wanted to have another pop at Pope and wanted Cellino back in the dressing room for a little chat. Should fine him a weeks wages!!
Had a good day, and have an offer on the table. Made an offer and they came back with something stupid, so made a lower revised offer... Told them to be sensible as I won't be giving them their asking price and to let me know before lunch tomorrow.
WJ, only thing I'd say in Green's defence is that it took an absolute age for anyone to try to close their players and attempt to block the shots from coming in. They've all looked like really good strikes that we'd be drooling over if it had been our forwards but admittedly I only have the TVs camera angles to judge from.
I think we'll need to agree to disagree. As far as shot-stopping is concerned, Silvestri is head & shoulders above Green. I do concede that Green may be better in other areas (command of area etc.), but I think Silvestri is the better of the two. He'll also improved, whilst Green will decline further. As for faulting him for last night's goal, I honestly believe that Ayling was the root cause by failing (yet again) to prevent the cross. Midfield should then have been alert to blocking the shot, and finally, Green should have moved more quickly to prevent the goal. So yes, I agree that the goal was not all down to Green. There were 2 calamitous errors before he was on the spot, so to speak.
jeez Loverboy, harsh mate ... take a careful look at the Wood finish ... the ball in fact is slightly behind him, so instead of thrashing at it he calmly stamps a firm sidefoot on it and guides it with his instep ... good composure from an under fire striker ... this lad will score goals if he gets the service on Monk's "vanity" stopping him dropping Green, he certainly had no hesitation dropping Wood ... the thing is, you will find that Green's experience is valued by his defenders, and he's a far better communicator than Silvestri ... as the season progresses and our team settles down, expect to see a lot more from all the defenders ... the best way to stop goals is to prevent crosses and shots in the first place, so pointing out Green alone is not fair we all have our favourite players, but surely we should support every single one when they wear the White shirt ... Everton fans were moaning about Lukaku because of his price tag, and they gave him serious stick ... it doesn't help turning on your own, because in most cases poor form is down to confidence not ability, and form is temporary Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Can't agree on the 'vanity' comment, Billy. The whole point of using the term 'vanity' was aimed at the fact that he signed Green. He didn't sign Wood, so there is no vanity aspect in dropping him, IMO. I didn't point to Green on his own either, btw. For last night's goal, I identified Ayling's serious flaw which is there for all to see - i.e. he rarely prevents crosses going in. Having failed to stop the cross, the midfield (think the CBs were too far back. Another mistake?) failed to shut down Emnes. Then Green was slow to react IMHO.
