They said on 5 live that the BBC is legally required to pay independent production companies to make a proportion of its programming.

    Well they shouldn't be
It's a stupid rule no doubt written by people who have stakes / investment in production companies

According to Chris Evans this morning when ITV sign up a production company they automatically take 50% ownership of the programme

That makes sense to me. Otherwise a select few get very rich on the back of the BBC reputation, and my license fee

ITV pay much more than the BBC, hence they get better deals.

I'm quite looking forward to The Great British Benefits Bake Off On Ice. :emoticon-0112-wonde

to be honest it doesn't matter a jot to me, I've never watched it

However my point was that when the BBC originally commissioned it if they had refused to do so without taking a 50% share, the company would have likely still accepted and now they would have been able to block the sale regardless of what ITV paid...which is exactly why ITV do that (although I accept they maybe mapy more in the first place so it is easier to negotiate)

    Its all rubbish anyway though

Not bothered personally as the show was a crock of ****e to me, but obviously it's a huge blow to the Beeb as it is one of their big draws.

Never got the fascination with this. There are far better and more entertaining cookery shows with better judges and better presenters.

That just leaves the BBC to palm off the rest of the ****e.. Strictly Come Dancing FFS....and to start to make some decent programmes again.

That **** Jeremy Vine was gassing on about this **** at lunchtime.

I bloke, yes a man, sent a message in saying he'd just heard the news whilst driving & had to pull over because he was in tears.

What the **** has this world turned into?
