Sunderland boss David Moyes admits they need to buy big in January.

The Black Cats will lose four players to the African Cup of Nations in the New Year.

Moyes admits it will mean another busy transfer window in January.

“We knew about the African Nations and if I'm being honest, it's not the way I would have wanted it but that's the way it's come around," he said.

“We brought in Jason Denayer so we have another centre half but will need to look to add again whether through the loan market or permanent.

“At the moment, Papy is not in the Senegal squad so maybe we might not lose him."

Another bullshit sensationalist headline. Moyes said **** all about "buying big".

But "Moyes reckons Sunderland might dip into the loan market" doesn't get as many clicks on their ****ty website.

Nowt to say fella. He's saying what so many have already said. Reassuring he sees it too though, but what good is that when we know short won't invest anyway.

let's hope we are in a position of strength in January and not playing catch up which has been the norm in the last few years.

I reckon Djilibodji will go if playing regularly and as well as he has for us so far. 4 players we'll miss (well 3 ATM as one isn't getting a game!)

Too late Moyes out Ancellotti in January before yet another manager ****s this club. There was two fat get Everton supporters I was ready to lay into near me jumping about when they scored before the stewards got them twats out, next time they won't be so lucky. Cheeky twats think they can piss take better than the team !

Were they in their section? If so then I'm pretty sure they're allowed to jump about when their team scores. It sounds as if they were in the Sunderland section though, I wonder if the stewards let them back in again once all the Sunderland fans had gone so they could watch the last 20 minutes of the game :p

No they were in the concourse near the centre at the front, the stewards told them 3 times to keep quiet but they got took out eventually, and they were wearing suits by the way.

How do you know they were Everton fans rather than just Sunderland fans cheering their hopeful demise of Moyes, excited by the imminent prospect of Ancellotti? That is quite exciting to be fair. Probably best to have them removed either way though.

Either Short has been careful with funds or the funds have been there but the backroom couldn`t get the players over the line. I know things were cocked up when the FA came calling but I can`t help feeling there was enough time to do better.

I`m thinking it`s a sad indictment when the manager says we need a busy next window when there`s a window just closed.

Only time will tell but my comments and feeling at the time was that the saving of a few million on M'Villa by waiting until January (and to be fair the saving may well be approaching 8-10m) deprives you of too much in midfield for too long (especially as it was at a time when Cattermole and Kirschoff were out). He'll miss more than half the season and it's not like you've generally had lots of points spare each season - it's too big a gamble exacerbated by the signing of Ndong (who may well be excellent but he's a risk for more than twice the cost M'Villa would have been!).

    It's a worry.
