In other words, you agree Glam. I said the same thing. The Manager should never back down publicly - his decision was tactical and correct yet he's publicly apologised to Taylor. That's wrong and he should have hard stern words with Taylor behind the scenes for causing a scene.
Chelsea made us look better than we are and the ref made so many bad calls but at the end of the day Any team who had as many chances as Chelsea did dont give the impression we played well at all......If that is us playing good then we are in trouble......sorry but we had a couple of good efforts and that was down to Chelsea, funny couple of minutes
Is Guidolin weak? No need to apologise or justify his decision to Taylor. I'd have been happy if he'd taken him off 10 mins earlier. Taylor's response there deserves dropping out of the squad but Guido doesn't look like he's got it in him. The pundits are giving him credit but the players have to know who's boss and Taylor acted like he didn't have any respect. Ship him out.
No one's shooting the messenger Dai. But again you fail to report the facts. There's a huge difference between 27 on target and 7. Chelsea are a great team and will be challenging for the title this season. But you've got to give the team some credit because we fought for that result at the end of the day. For me this is the type of result that galvanises teams and gives much needed confidence. We've never outplayed the top teams because doing that will lead to an absolute hiding. First half the formation was wrong but fair play to Guidolin he saw what was needed and made the change asap. Chelsea were extremely organised and resilient. We done well to grab a point.
There is always one player that swans fans love to pick on They conveniently forget about the good work he has done or that he has made the team of the week or whether they are an international player or not... Once you have a bad game it sticks with some fans on here but he need not worry as soon as he moves on someone else will be witch hunted I can guarantee it...
IMO sometimes it's the weak who react and get into an argument publicly. Id expect Taylor to be disciplined for his actions. Totally unacceptable behaviour from a senior player that should know better.
All players do it when they needlessly get taken off early in a match......It's no big deal it's frustration....
Dai - I agree that it must be frustrating for the player. But it was a needed decision in this case...
What player are you referring to Dai? If it's Taylor then he deserves all the criticism after his tantrum today. He's 2nd choice LB because Kingsley is better than him and will only get better. Taylor needs to get his head down and work on his game instead of lashing out. I've been in management for years and when my staff throws a wobbler I ask them to take the issue up with me privately. That's how people conduct themselves in a professional setting. Taylor was totally out of order even though a little understandable that he's going to be frustrated by the decision. Needless??!!! You said yourself that the first half performance was terrible. That change was desperately needed.
Agree with most with regards Taylor. I though he was very poor and the line up was a mistake from the start. Brave decision to make the change before half time but I thought it was the right one as it definitely lifted the place. I could not see Taylors' reaction but it sounds like his dummy was well and truly thrown out of the pram. Guidelin should never be apologizing to a player publicly like that, especially one like Taylor who frankly should not be 1st choice anyway. I am sick an tired of his sound bites in the press and would quite like him to stay out if the squad for a while....I don't think we'd miss him.
All players do it when they needlessly get taken off early in a match......It's no big deal it's frustration.... Needless??!!! You said yourself that the first half performance was terrible. That change was desperately needed. They were all terrible except Fab and Taylor was no worse than anyone else. To take him off that early was stupid and should have waited at least to HT I think Taylor gets far to much criticism ..........Yes he has made mistakes but you could say the same thing for a number of our players but Taylor seems to be the one to be singled out when the team as a whole plays bad......This is a bad trend that we have every season.....Some player will be picked on every season. when in fairness it's not always the case as others have been just as bad if not worse but if the flavour of the season is playing then he will get all the stick.....It seems like a tradition with us that some player will be made the fall guy....
Far from the truth but i dont buy this crap that we played good because we didn't, two or three upped their game but if Chelsea was not so bad and took some of their 25 chances then they would be out of sight at the 30 minute mark......I would rather look at the game and be factual and not think we were good because we had a lucky draw. It gives us a false impression of how the whole game really went.......
Happy with the point but not our performance. The team in general were bad but there was some improvement from the last few games. Guido was right to sub Taylor but maybe should have waited until half time. All in all a good point and we have something to build on.
Dai I think if you actually read what people are saying the criticism is mainly directed at Taylor for his actions when taken off and crossing, Fernández for his defending and Guidolin for his starting line-up. These are all legitimate reasons. No one was having a go at Taylor while was on the pitch because he was asked to play in a position that isn't suited to him. The criticisms were mainly asking why is he there in the first place. You on the other hand seem to have one agenda and try to turn everything to fit that agenda. (To get Guidolin out) Why can't you accept that Guidolin made the right call today with his substations? And commend him for being proactive. Now if I can recall you were scathing at the Hull performance yet we had a similar shot ratio to that of the Chelsea game today. Should we have won that game? But you and I know that sometimes it's not as simple as black and white and need to contextualise the statistics as well as what has happened on the pitch. We could have easily dropped our head and accepted the defeat but they didn't and came out 2nd half fighting and got rewarded for thier efforts. No one is saying that we don't have problems but you also got to realise that today was an improvement on the last game against Leicester. I think you need to stop being so stubborn and accept that we're not as bad as you make out.
Dai needs to watch the games before commenting in future. He might have realised then that Kingsley wasn't on the bench but on the pitch for the whole game
Dai - I understand what you say about waiting until HT. However, it was obvious to us in the ground that the structure wasn't working and needed to be changed earlier .....if they had scored a second one before HT, we would have been dead and buried. So, on balance a good call by Guidolin.
