Here's a stat to get JGF going. At the moment we are averaging 1.66 points a game = 76 points over a season. Chew on that cupcake
shouldn't it be Welsh Cake? rounded up using 10 decimal points it is 77 but 6 games is hardly a yardstick to go by ..10 -12 would be
Just settled down for the evening my take on today. Clearly a issue with the team starting the game with any real urgency in the first half,as has been the same against Wigan,Newcastle,Burton,Villa. Did not go to Norwich or Scunny. This is something LJ has to address. Today there was issues between O'Donnall and Flint what was that all about "park football" First goal conceded was comical. Clearly the first half it was not happening, that was noticeable after 15 to 20 minutes. No change at half time,we then go two down and it seems the game is over. Why LJ could not see change was required was concerning. He then woke up and brought three subs on,which injected some urgency into our game. We had so much possession, but nothing to show for it. My take is at present O'Donnall,Flint,Magnussan,O'neil,Abraham are names I would be putting on the team sheet."even though Flint had a mare of a game today" The other positions Little,Golbourne,Reid,Freeman,Bryan are up for grabs and by no means are guaranteed starting slots. Tomlin needs to raise his input, and standards to last year, if he to keep his place. Today putting O'Dowda and Patterson on made a massive difference. For me forget the past, this side should have brought three points back to Bristol but we managed to claw back a point. If we are serious about play offs, then these are the sides we need to be beating home or away. Clearly Rotherham will be struggling at the bottom of the championship again this season,we lost two points today. Disappointed but happy in the end to make the journey back with a point in the end.
Happy with a point but sounds like it could and should have been all 3. But avoiding defeat away from home is always a positive no matter who the opposition are. Well done for coming back from 2 down lads.
Thanks for posting this BCFC R&W - I think it's fair to say there will not be any goal of the season contenders in those 4 goals.... Really really poor defending for all the goals tbh - not a good advert for the Championship. BTW, has anyone who gets to the games seen what Tammy is like at shooting from outside the 6 yard box? All his goals are from inside that I can recall, which is great we have a 'fox in the box', it's been a long time since we did.
Saw the very brief highlights they should devote 10 mins 7 mins 4 mins for 3 games and for the rest no less than 2 mins last night they 10 games so a total of 35 mins spend 30 secs discussing and allowing 15 mins for ad breaks that's 55 mins ..an hour to cover the championships is reasonable ! I am going to start recording it ...then watch it 20 mins after the start .so able to fast forward the adverts ..last night it felt as though the adverts were more than the football.. oh .....the bit I saw was farcical ... comments on here I detect is confirming my and ex Barnsley comments junior sort of loses the plot ...... in the brief bit saw a bit of tommo "brilliance" think it was him but camera was on wide pan ...
Amazed no one, not even on OTIB or twitter has mentioned that Reid missed an open goal in the first half. Can you imagine if that was Kodjia who missed that for us?
'not even on OTIB or twitter has mentioned that Reid missed an open goal' Someone mentioned it on otib. If you have to be critical, what about their 1 on 1. If that have been Wagstaff........
That's a bit harsh, that ball came quickly to Reid who put it to the corner away from the keeper, he couldn't have seen that defender coming, the ball hit the defender who knew nothing about it, otherwise it was a goal. Bottom line is Fllint had a mare and cost us the game. These things happen for defenders and keppers from time to time, the positive is we fought back for a point. This time last season that would have ended up3 or 4-0
A frustrating game in many ways, but coming back from 2-0 down to draw shows bottle, whatever the circumstances. Though Flint was probably most at fault for both the goals, it would be interesting to know if O'Donnell shouted anything for the first one. Looking at the replay, it looked as though Flint pointed to indicate that he was going to head the ball back to him to collect, but then didn't get suitable power on it, though perhaps O'Donnell should have simply shouted 'clear!' or 'keepers!'. Without going overboard with criticism, we're probably conceding a few too many goals full-stop this season. If we can focus a bit more on that and keep more clean sheets then we can improve on what has already been a pretty decent start. I don't think a major overhaul is required for us to mount a serious playoff challenge.
We need to address the basic errors. I noticed O'Donnell went nuts at Flint for the own goal so he'd presumably called for it to be left to him.
Flint screwed up twice - but he has saved us more times than he has let us down - scoring a few goals to boot. He is absolutely forgiven in my book. If nobody made a mistake then every game would end 0-0.
Hopefully he's gotten them out of his system and he'll make no mistakes over the next 20! I'm sure there is no-one more upset than him and he'll come back stronger. Anyone want to take a punt on him scoring from a corner tomorrow night?
We are famous just reading the post and thought I know those three faces in one of the fans pictures.
At the start of the Villa game. I saw Flint turn to O'Donnell and made shouted something and made a hand movement that suggested O'Donnell needs to talk more- This could have been a classic example against Rotherham of a potential issue here?
I should like to think there isn't a problem - sometimes you need teammates to shout a bit at one another. In my opinion, the goalkeeper does need to be particularly vocal as they'll have the best view of what's going on. Hopefully they'll both learn from this error and it'll stop similar things happening from now on.
