You may think so but I will point you to two ex-players from my team, Scholes and Hughes. Two superb strikers of volley's yet neither were worth mentioning at dead ball pieces.
How many did Dawson actually score from a free kick? He seemed a threat, granted. Someone will say he didn't take that many. Strange that, if he's our greatest ever free kick taker, as some are saying.
Snoddy has nothing on Geo. But as proven exceptional free kick taker, he did it time and time again against us in the past, it's brilliant to see him do it in the black and amber now! Also going back a few posts with people talking about Tom. Something that wasn't mentioned was his free kick in the 6-0 at home to Fulham which hit the bar with a Bale-esque free kick from 40 yards. That's was probably the best free kick taken by anyone in a since Geo at WHL in 08.
there's been a few down the years, Snodders is right up there with the best. Stan McEwan had a free kick like a howitzer. Little subtlety, just leather it as hard as possible. Stuart Green and Tom Cairney (e.g. the Norwich game that snapped the 31 games without an away win) come to mind as others that had their moments.
I remember free kicks against Spurs, Man City and Liverpool and I think a couple were penalties. Ironically, possibly his best free kick was against Burnley and was disallowed.
