Putting words in my mouth again, I only said, sometimes you have to use players out of their preferred position because circumstance makes it necessary!
Strange that you mention me and not Dorset who mentioned my post and agreed with it. Lucky Dorset flies below you aggression radar!
Can't disagree with that, squire, as I had no idea Canos was unfit until late in the game and Brady's early withdrawal was enforced by injury. But it does reinforce my point about lack of depth in the squad. Squirm, Lee Darnborough.
So, out of our summer signings only McGovern is anything like fit. Pritchard only now beginning to show, Oliveira "not quite ready" and Canos now 'unfit". Not sure why all that is, especially as we has an Internstional break last weekend.
There are one or two who would disagree with you here, canario. Any port in a storm, it seems, is acceptable
I would like to see Ruddy given a chance up front , all this talk of player playing where they prefer stinks . If Neil wants Ruddy to play left midfield he should roll his socks up and get on with it .
Hang on a minute, a 'Hootun' side and 'nice football' in the same sentence? Whatever, always nice when Mr 'Nice' man loses a football match
My take on today and the season so far is we have played poorly yet have only lost once! I am concerned as we seem to allow other teams too much time with the ball whilst when we have the ball we invariably go backwards or lump it to Jerome. I have been to 4 of the 6 so far and think although we have a squad that is more than capable of being the best in the league I'm not convinced AN knows how to utilise the squad. So yes am concerned but believe this team playing well (which we haven't) is a force to be reckoned with. Is AN the man to help us achieve that? not sure (swaying towards no)!
Could be argued that it is better than no port at all. I accept that Howson is better when he plays in his normal position but with Murphy having to play wide left, Canos and Naismith unavailable and others not fully match fit who would you have played on the right side of midfield?
Josh one side and Jacob the other with no largely ineffective Dorrans and Howson centrally would have done me just fine. Horses for courses, as they say
And you seriously believe that this would not leave our midfield lightweight? A matter of opinion as always. Must go as my lift home has arrived.
All I can say to this is; if you're happy to pay thousands of pounds a year (which I do, 5 season tickets) and be presented with football like that, then I despair! I went for a pee at half time...at least it gave me something interesting to look at!!!
He's another one who needs dropping on his head! Doesn't matter where you're asked to play, you should at least turn up!
Hi ILD, hope you're ok mate. You're clearly not happy, like many of us. What is wrong then, in your opinion? I ask because I know you are an advocate of Delia's (the nick is a giveaway), and you can't have failed to notice that some people would like to see the back of her (I'm not necessarily one of them by the way), and bring in new backers. Where do you feel we are going wrong, if, indeed, you do?
Reading this, anyone would be forgiven for thinking we lost today. In truth, we took the lead and led all the way through the match with three very good goals as well. Yes, Howson did play on the right to accomodate Dorrans and that worked generally, particularly in the first half when Dorrans spread the ball well and allowed us to dominate possession. Jacob played on the left and got two assists in doing so. There's no Naismith to blame this week, so who will the culprit be? It's easy to describe Cardiff's goals as 'sloppy', but the first was difficult to defend against. The second could have been better defended, but generally we controlled this match throughout without playing at our best. Isn't that what good teams do?
I’m always very interested in the differing opinions on here. I’ve supported City since there were laces on the ball as well as the boots, and I’ve learned to enjoy the highs and cope with the not so highs. Points versus performance is an interesting one. Lots of posters who follow from afar are happy to get points on the board, which is understandable, whilst those who watch live games may feel entitled to see a good performance for their 40 or 50 quid. Why wouldn’t they?
Hi Gandy, I just don't believe that the board are responsible for the way the team performs on the pitch! The manager said he was happy with the first half...1 shot on goal in the first 30 minutes at home, no forward momentum, constantly passing back to the keeper isn't Delias fault, it's down to the manager and the players. We won today, but nearly gave it away, the performance in the first half was diabolical no noise from the crowd proved that, in fact just before halftime it was SO quiet you could hear individual conversations from other parts of the ground!! If people think we can get promoted and survive in the Premiership playing like that then they are watching a different game to me! If the board are at fault it's hiring a second rate manager again!! Look at Huddersfield, top of the division haven't lost a game, have they spent millions on players.........
