Yes we are through but we had no, that's NO, strikers on at the end. Just watched the 2nd half on P2P stream and Stoke just dropped further and further back as the half progressed. Hadjuk appeared to offer little up front and so we did what we had to to get through but we cannot hope to play like that against Chelsea and expect to get anything. Good to get through to the next round though.
Yep - watching it and cried at all 3 substitutions, but will in future play Shotton upfront on fifa just to remind me to trust in the CB's upfront
I thought the same but they did the job - who's actually expecting anything against Chelsea anyway? We did well and took the win, what more do we need!!!!!
I must admit I thought we'd get a real going over tonight but they were very poor in my opinion, but we defended very well and looked very organised. Thought Ryan and Woodgate were exceptional at the back, as were Glenn and Deano in the centre. Well done lads. How must Ryan Shotton be feeling now? A Stoke fan since youth, going down in our history as the man who scored the goal in our first away win in Europe.
Unbelievable, another historic first! As for the subs, have patience guys, TP will bring in decent signings again I know it. Just like last season, when messrs Jones, Walters, Pennant and Wilson arrived on our doorstep. Glad for Deano and as for Shotton.....what a story to tell your kids! How did Woodgate get on guys? KTF and UTP!!!!!
Woodgate was superb. He was unstoppable. Getting 90 minutes under his belt will be a massive confidence booster for the lad.
Yeah jowler, heard the first 20 mins on the car radio and the noise the Split fans were making was unbelievable. Bet our lads outsung them at the end though!
Fantastic sarge, and needed too as Wilko did his foot? Groaned a bit when I heard that Huthy was at right back but sounds like they did a job in difficult playing conditions, 30 degrees? Very proud Stokey here tonight sarge, wish I could have been at the game.
I was lucky enough to be able to watch tonights match, and I thought that they held their composure and played very well in what must have been difficult/energy sapping conditions (hot & humid). Well Done to all the team, especially Woodgate who stayed on for all the game!
Brilliant performance stoke in a very hot and hostile stadium, woodgate was quality and looked like he had never been away!!, I was expecting us to get beaten tonight so im chuffed to bits!!!. Gooooaaarrrrnnn you mighty potters!!!!
I knew Woodgate would be quality if he stayed fit! Remember fellas, the draw is tomorrow at 12:30pm!!
Congrats guys. Watched your first half, before tuning to our match - thought you played very well, Shawcross plays very maturely - I think he'll be one of the best in the PL over the next couple of seasons.
What a great night for every Stoke fan, I am really pleased as like Sgt, I was expecting us to defend the whole game. We didn't and it reminded me of a Liverpool team of the 70s. Would hold out all night after winning the first leg. And they did very well playing that way. HUMBLE PIE tastes wonderful tonight. Well done the lads, especially Woodgate and Ryan. Just heard that Shotton's goal was in fact an own goal but T.P. got It spot on tactically well done everyone. Just wish I could have been there to see the win. And YES, first EVER win away for the Potter's in Europe. I won't get carried away by this but, we did more than enough to get through. And, that's what it's all about. Roll on Friday, let's draw Rangers or a good side and see how the cope at our place.
