I don't think it's an appropriate subject for discussion here. It's a deeply personal thing for some people. Too personal for this ****ing zoo!

I'll just add pretty much what Stan said, I'm not a believer personally, but if you are I can respect that.

Just leave me out of your proselytizing.

I am certain you are right about that.
Probably a subject best left avoided.
They say that religion and politics are the two subjects to steer clear of, if you wish to avoid arguments :D

I have nothing against religion and my objection to faith schools is more to do with social cohesion and shared common values.
Faith schools teach children that we are divided as a society and help insular communities to exist and operate independently of those around them.
School is the states opportunity to teach common values and children to integrate without even considering that another child is different. It is also a place parents can meet and perhaps wake up to the fact that there is more to a person than their colour or religion.

The koran and the bible are both edited versions of selected texts. Other chapters were left out because they conflicted with other bits or didn't suit the editor.

It's bizarre that some revere them as the actual word of an omnipotent being. Seems even God wasn't totally sure what he meant.

For an omnipotent omniscient, he seems to struggle with his selection of meesengers.

The Jewish lad did fairly well, but that was more due to the team that joined the group post mortem. He then chose to pass his message to an illiterate to record and left it to any Tom, Dick or Harry to interpret and spread their version.

He seems to still struggle more recently deciding to whisper in the ear of a Bradford lorry driver, who seems to have gone a tad old testamentin his understanding of morality and prostitution.
Best not get started on his representative the pope's take on suffer little children to come unto me.

    Cheers for the advice. ok>

I'll carry on discussing it though, nob.

Bits of it are amusing and I reckon a solid faith should be able to stand a bit of scrutiny. I'm not saying it isn't true I'm just exploring the possibilities. <ok>

A god that can make the world, can't seem to find a messenger from the creatures he created. Perhaps if he'd chosen a literate one, they wouldn't have needed to compile selective texts as his 'word' and in such a way that you need other books and scholars to explain and various factions created based on it..

<laugh> "To quote Rust Cohle". Fuxake.

Mate, you have every right to whatever beliefs you do or don't have. But please don't be so arrogant as to think you have the right to scorn the sincerely held beliefs of others.

The problem you've always had Bod is that you have a very sterile, very narrow and dare I say ignorant view of religion. It's interesting that those that argue most against religion, tend to understand what the word "faith" means the least.

Yes... Bod likes to profess to not getting worked up over anything on an internet forum. Someone who believes in a live and let live philosophy. Until religion crops up <laugh>
