Games are all important we are playing against 2 of the best supported & probably most money in league 2 away from home. Its the next home game against Stevenage thats the game to worry about now.
By the end of the month we would have played 10 league games and we need to have doubled our points tally
The home game against Hartlepool could sway me. If they are bottom of the table after losing to them on my birthday I will be well pissed off
Christ chaps it's a bit early in the season for Suicidal Syd to be leading the cheering isn't it? We were rock bottom with nil points after 2 games and are now 3rd having won 4 on the trot. Now I have to tell you that we haven't been playing well at all. It's been ok at best and pants at times. Admittedly the last 2 home matches have been in lousy weather with a gale blowing in the first and yesterday more monsoon than Autumn. But we still haven't exactly set the world on fire. It's far too early to write anything off. Your next one against Pompey should be a loss. Everything points to that. Size of club, away from home, league position....etc etc. But it is still a bit of which Pompey turns up. They will click eventually but last season they became the draw specialists which is why they didn't get promoted in the end. This season started a bit the same as last for them. This has got to be the most bizaar league in the Universe for results. You have 5 points. Win two and draw one and you are in the top half easily at the moment.
Thanks Greeny. May I post that on the Wycombe Fans facebook. Christ some of those are all doom and gloom and calling for the manager's head.
That is not the answer sacking the manager I work with two Pompey season ticket holders if they had there way after the first 3 games Cook would have been on his bike. I shall go back tomorrow after a weeks holiday & two wins nothing will be said about the manager.
It's not just the start of this season though as we didn't win in our last 8 games of last season that's why it's 1 win in 13 league games under Ainsworth. Are you telling me that if you had a **** run like that your fans wouldn't be wanting your manager to **** off?
Last season was a different squad against different squads so to be fair it's irrelevant to now. We had automatic promotion nailed on. Well it was until the wheels came off and we ended up in the playoffs. Well got to Wembley and then forgot to take the team there as well. Sack the anything that moves that you can sack is what was cried all over the City and beyond. We got over that, got rid of most of the players who forgot to turn up and the Manager started again. In Adams we trust was the new cry and we promptly lost the first two this season to sit proudly on the bottom of the league. Sack the anything that moves once more rang out. But, as that wasn't seriously going to happen it got better even if the football hasn't been wonderful. Truth is most clubs go through patches and only the truely terrible keep the run going. You have played 6 and have 5 points. Not good but not the worst either. A couple of changed results and everyone will be singing the praises again. Another 4 or 5 games is fairer to judge a side.
I just read that Luton fielded an under 21 team for the midweek cup game and played their full team (making 11 changes) against us. It is against the rules but they knew that and were happy to pay the fine. This proves there is a massive gulf between some teams in this league. Imagine being able to afford the fine, let alone have an under 21 team.
Been a bit quiet on here so probably about time i weighed in with some thoughts! Ainsworth is currently walking close to a cliff edge in my opinion, but i dont think we should panic just yet. Lets not forget on saturday we lost against the best side in the league (that ive seen anyway) and for a good 20 minutes or so we looked very good - not good of course that it was only that time but a marked improvement on colchester! We still have players out injured who are hoping to address the problems we have going forward - this will be a different team if onien, paris and weston are ever fit at the same time having said that its ainsworths fault really for building a team with injured players. However the team clearly lacks confidence, no one more so than sam wood. Lets not forget 2 years ago he was one of the best wingers in the league - now he looks a shadow of his former self, but it doesnt help with the fans on his back the whole game. Sammy badly needs either a break in luck or a break from the team, and neither seems likely to happen. This is the scenario with too many of our players at the moment, and i would say its up to gaz to find a way to address that rot Is this team better than the one that finished last season? concerningly, im not sure it is. However a couple of wins will change everything as greeny says, and the performance against northampton and some of the luton game makes me hopeful it might go that way The big telling point will be the stevenage game. If we can get something from portsmouth away then great, but im not sure ive ever travelled to a wycombe game (as i will be for god knows what reason!) with a bigger certainty of defeat
Had a free invitation ticket to the game. They won 2-0, The French No 6 is a player who Man U and Barcelona are after. Good fierce, fast game. Sorry, don't mean to rub it in
