Come on Sky, the guy is terrible.
Shouldn't be anywhere near your squad, let alone Englands.

... absolutely mind boggling comments ... fills me with great confidence <doh>... just hope Raheem Sterling doesn't decide he fancies a turn between the sticks mid-way through a game ...

The FA made a great choice.....lets appoint a journeyman, who hasn't won dick his entire career.
If I was an England fan I'd be raging.
Where the hell were they thinking, especially with some of the managers who became available this summer, Pep, Jose and Conte etc.

  6. It's pathetic! It's like Big Sam (and other managers before him) are in awe of the pug-faced ginger! I simply do not understand it.

I bet Rooney rang Big Sam up and said, "I'm in the team, as captain, and I'll play where I ****ing well like. Okay?" And Big Sam pulled down his pants, bent over and said, "Put plenty of lube on, Wayne!"

... thought Lallana was MOTM and deserved his goal ... head and shoulders (not the Joe Hart kind) above everyone else ...

Defence did OK barring Danny Rose who had a couple of chicken in headlight moments ... but Slovakia were not a potent attacking force ...

Wayne Rooney seems to have embarked on a new 'walking football' career ahead of schedule .... nullifies our attacking threat far more effectively than opposition defenders can ...

Harold looks sadly out of form .... but was far too isolated for most of the game ...

Can anyone really see that particular team, playing in that manner getting through the group stage at the World Cup? ... I can't

We'll probably qualify, the media will then ramp up our chances, saying it's the best chance we've had since 66. We will then flop at the group stages, sack Fat Sam and appoint Neil Warnock .... repeat

Allardyce, who took over from Roy Hodgson in July, says he "can't stop" Rooney from dropping into midfield, claiming that the player has a "lot more experience at international football" than he does

Well then why the **** do they need you Sam, lets just make Rooney player-manager? He clearly has more experience than you. <laugh>

Right, in defence of Sam; if you are going to play Rooney at all, it makes sense to play him in a free role. Of course, you don't have to play him at all. But playing him as a striker makes no sense really, as he's not an especially good one these days. If, in the other hand, you ask him to play as the link between midfield and attack, say behind the main striker as part of a 4231, then you are going to have to expect him to go deep looking for the ball, because that is what he does.

But it's probably a bit more simple than that; the coach picks the team, and tries to get them playing the way he wants. But once they are on the pitch he is powerless to do anything much except make substitutions. Big Sam's subs worked btw.

In his post match interview, the coach could have said " I was going to take him off in the 2nd half but he was considerably less useless than Kane and Sterling". But he didn't, probably advisedly.

You seem well versed in bending down and being lubed up. Is it a prerequisite for joining your centipede club?

If he wants to play Rooney in midfield, and feels thats where he would be best utilised, then fine.
But to say that Rooney decides where he plays and its "not for him" to say, is ludicrous. If not him, then who?
He is powerless in a sense, but if he tells Rooney to play in midfield, for example, and he kept drifting up front and going out of position, then you rip him a new arsehole for not following the tactics, and if he doesn't like it, then he gets dropped.
Can you imagine SAF or Jose or a manager of that ilk putting up with that ****?

He is supposed to be the manager, and to basically come out and say "I aint got a ****ing clue what I am doing at this level, so I will defer to the players, who have more experience than me" is outrageous and unlikely to fill anyone, including the players, with confidence.

He was making a light hearted comment.

And he has plenty of experience at this level; he managed Bolton and West Ham. That's England's level.

He's far from terrible. Played some slick balls that sharp strikers would have buried...

I'm sure you recognised my post wasn't completely serious!!
