Take what ever we can against the Scousers would be devastated if we lost to the mags, (don't think we will though), I'd give Bruce more time as IMO a team needs to bed in.
If we do lose both think I'll hibernate to next may.

Kuyt, Henderson, Adam, Downing, Maxi, Carroll. and so on and so on.

Two different teams, in two games, and for once i'm overly confident about beating them up in NE1..

If we lose both i'm changing nationality, changing my name to Juan, and never coming to England again.

    Comm,

No one in that list scares me, decent? Yes . Great? No way.

If we lose the first two games there are still 36 to play for with lots of opportunity to rack up some points. Get real! The end of the world can't be seen from here.

    Good point.

I dont know why we struggle to beat them at home but we do. Its not as if they have always had decent teams but they seem to have the 'hex' on us at home for some reason. Maybe its time to shed that image as well. Gyan and Sessegnon will be huge figures in this seasons derbies for us and I have had a dream that Won comes off the bench and claims his place in history.

Away, we have won our fair share of rather important games but at home, they seem to rally. I can just see that useless stiff plank Amadonkey scoring again to keep up his record. Lol

Being football anything can happen, the liverpool games these days seem to involve a 'balloon' or them cheating. It looks as if our best signing to date, O'shea is not going to be fit (and I could do a WTF about that I tell you) and TBH I remain to be convinced that the Gyan + Sess 1-1 combo will produce enough goals. So I think the Liverpool game is going to be tough, its good that 'Stevie G' is missing lets hope Henderson does a Chopra if presented with an open goal. I would have liked O'Shea to shackle Miss Carol as he got the better of our defenders last year. I would take a draw.

As for the derby...well we froze at their place and got stuffed and it still HURTS, we only started to play at out place in the last 10/15 minutes. So will we turn up this time who knows? But suppose we lose heavily in both games? Obviously too soon for SB to be given the heave ho but it will be a step in that direction. I keep going back to the problems of last season, one selling Bent and not getting a replacement in, two 2nd half of the season no spirit, no tactical nous yes we had injuries but actually I think we all know this was just masking deeper problems.

We look like starting the season still with no replacement for Bent (yes we have two good young prospects but they need to be brought in gradually not deep ended) and we still do not have a LW, surely we cannot wait another year or two for Insomina can we? and ****tytWhitePants is not the answer.

I think the players brought in have undoubtedly strengthened the squad, if they are not injured, but I will be alot more confident if we manage to fill he two outstanding spots that were and still are our main priorities before the end of last season

He'll get as long as he wants. There's no way ashley will sack him. The only way he's out of there is if he resigns. Doesn't matter if we're bottom of the league, he won't sack him.

I'm sorry but if you cant make the distinction between a normal loss and a loss in the local derby, youre not being honest with yourself. With a 5-1 thumping last year at Sid James and a last minute squeaked 1-1 at home, it has left a bitter taste. Local rivalries and bragging rights are important and Bruce needs to win this first home game of the season. Losing your home record at the first attempt would be bad enough. doing it against your local rivals is disaster. The same would be said of Partridge if the game was at Sid James.

It may not be right but its true. I'd take a 3 or 4 -0 defeat at Anfield and a 1-0 win at the SOL.

We are without a doubt playing ourselves aswell as Liverpool and Newcastle. I think we can beat Liverpool, there defense is poor(hope kyriagos plays!) And there midfield will be average if Adam and Henderson are in it as I rate neither especially when they are in their own half.

I would love to trash the black and whites and ram it down their throat for once and not have too hear all this ****e about how they haven't spent money and all this crap which I was sick off seeing last season.

If thats true its pretty scary as well. No manager (even SAF) should be that comfortable.

Whatever happens. I want at least 3 points out of the first two games played. Its better than 2 draws - even if its a win at anfield and a loss at our place. (I will qualify this as the nightmare scenario, mind).

I know what I want and thats 6 points. If we get beat v Liverpool I would demand a win at home against inferior opposition because if you were to boil it down that is all the game is. It should have been that last season as well but we got bullied at their place and petrified of losing at ours.

Our 2nd game last season we beat Villa 6-0 with this team:

    01 Harper
    02 Coloccini
    03 Jose Enrique
    06 Williamson
    14 Perch
    04 Nolan
    07 Barton
    10 Routledge
    18 Gutierrez
    09 Carroll
    17 Smith

Granted, we had Carroll and he ran the show that day but I don't think there's any doubt that on paper at least our team against you will be stronger than that one, also we all know what happened last year with Sunderland fans counting their chickens and what not and if I were you I'd be quiet enough until AFTER the game this time <ok>

Unfortunately last year the people who shouted the loudest before the game were thin on the ground here after the result... god it was horrible; I still have nightmares about those dancing men.

We need that win. Need it. Alright, if we don't get it its not the end of the world, but to me, pretty close.

You can want all you like but if we get beaten of the scouse and the skunks Bruce will not get the sack(and well you know it) and in my opinion nor should he.

There have been a lot of changes and I know its a worn out cliche but it takes a few competitive games for the team to gel, however if it were 5 games without a win then the pressure would really mount.

In the medium term he has until christmas and if we are not in the top 10 or in a gnats whisker of it then you may get what you wish for and I would be wishing for it too.
