Paul Merson's club-by-club transfer window grades: A+ for Man Utd and Chelsea http://www.skysports.com/football/n...l-mersons-club-by-club-transfer-window-grades
Don't get me wrong i don't want to splash money around randomly just for the sake of it nor buy Balotelli rather than saying i'll stick with what i have thanks. However very little attempt seems to have been made to buy a LB which we obviously need and is Wijinaldum really the answer to our soft centre ?.
Ahh ok, I'm not sure how it works exactly? Could you have a squad of 25 players over the age of 21 and as many u21s on top of that? I guess we'll just have a squad of 24 (I think) I guess....with youngsters adding depth to that.
I think he's a bit strong on kante but otherwise I have actually said i think chelsea might actuall win the league but i hope luiz is not for real.. jesus wept. I can't argue with must else. LFC as a C is probably not harsh but if kante is that vital why is mane not. he's going to transform us i nterms of style. we don't just play in front any more. Matip i think merson is still going duhhhhh who? It'd be lovely to go give 50mi lfor 20 mil players and 300k per week and give klop his hearts desire in every slot but reality bites.
I can only conclude that he wanted a particular guy and did not get them and decided that with no europe he was ok at LB. the game we've played thus far with 3 in the middle I think we are underestimating the work that wijnaludm and lallana have put in.. and all games away so far. on the ball not so much yet. but the reality is in a 433 can and henderson will play i think so its a choice. wijnaludm or lallana... again. I think he did want dahoud, didn't get him and moved on. ............................... at the start of the summer i was looking at LFC being a 4231. As a 4231 I was thinking we desperately needed a partner for can and even make can and henderson fight ofr that one spot. half of preseason told me this was the case too. Now though? We've started with a 433, both forwards who should be starting are benched and an extra CM is in the side. Mane is playing free not glued to a wing and so is firmino and couthino. It looks decent. we even started sturrdige on left rather than up top! So right now i am wondering if klopp has said ok this is the way to go with what I have and has decided that he gets the most from it. As a result. 1. Do we need a CM? I don't know any more. Theres just enough in the squad to play this system 2. do we need a LB- yes i stil lthink its mad to think that brain dead loon will ever make a solid player 3. Do we need more CBS? I feel its light and there is an element of making klavan into a wonder player thats not the case but this one will just dpeend on injuries. 4. Did we need more keepers? no. If ward does well on loan i think he can be a very solid prem keeper in the future. Karius is the buy, we need to see what he can do under pressure as he got zero test in preseason but looked like he knew the game plan. 5. Do we have a system to exploit firmino, coutinho and mane? seems so... would 4231 with coutinho and mane covering full backs make more sense to get a origi or sturrdige in the side... maybe. I think we need to see what klopp does at home with the team next... what I've seen so far could be designed purely to dig in for away games at season start...
yes. There is a max 25 man squad with certain number who are homegrown and any amount of u21s can be used This rule is now silly as its a u23 reserve team now so.. do you make it u23 unlimited in future?
Yes that's it exactly. 25 players over age 21, 8 have to be home grown. Under 21's can play freely, no need to be registered
I understand Wijnaludm is only good scoring in home games. Who cares if he can make the difference at Anfield?.
Bunch of Negative Nellies, the lot of you... Call me glass half full, but I like our dealings, both in and out... Deadwood sold or loaned out for silly money, Millions off the Wage bill too! Ins: Mane, think we all love the fella's attitude and performances so far, TICK! Matip, good bit of business on the cheap, Stats wise was 2nd/3rd only to Boteng and Hummels in the Bundesliga last year.. Grujic, looks good, def. one for the future.. Karius, rated one of the best goalies in Germany, was he not second only to Nueur? Gini, fair to say he's not pulled up trees so far, but looks to have a good engine and eye for goal, will be a good addition Ragnar, been bought cheap for backup purposes, will do a job! No idea why we bought Manninger in, maybe more of a 3rd choice goal/coaching role.. What is certain is that these were players Klopp wanted and got, I think he knows what he's doing and I for one will back him, Dortmund too 3+ years to turn around, he's been here less than 12months, the vast majority of players were developed in house as well as developing those that he bought.. Klopp is old school, he believes in the art of coaching a player, if that player can't be coached to do what he requires, they get replaced. We had our shooting boots missing against Burnley but still played some nice stuff. We had a great result against Arsenal and we should have beaten Spurs, if some of you guys stopped whinging about who we didn't buy and look at the development of some of our players and game, then you may be more hopeful for the future!
Yes, a point I think someone made before. Both can see a bouncing ball on the halfway line, charge 30 yards past their own midfielders (or over them, in the case of Sakho on Can, Hendo and others last season), win the ball and give it straight to the opposition with themselves now being half the pitch out of position. That said, I liked Sakho for his attitude and the fact that he won 90% of headers from defensive set-pieces, and his passing was VERY underrated. The fat-burner thing shows what a dickhead he is though (albeit totally innocent of the 'cheat' label first thrown on him), and, not wishing to jinx him, look at the improvement in Lovren playing next to Toure, Karius and, definitely, Matip. John Terry still carries your defence. The guy is a legend and a real organiser. Luiz will deffo be the worse for not having him there so often, talented as he is. Put it this way - Carra and Hyypia don't have have as much pace as the likes of Luiz and Sakho, but you feel a damn sight more safer with the likes of them there. That said, do you remember that game at Anfield when Drogba simply tore Hyypia a new one? Seen that happen to Terry once or twice too (especially by Torres when he was still good). But you average these things out - Terry will give you more good games than bad: sakho and Luiz you're not so sure.
All that is true, but there is no excuse for not getting a LB in, even one on loan for the season as we seemed to have staked all on Chilwell. Completely illogical.
From the outside looking in, I gotta agree with you there.. But, it maybe that Klopp see's something in Moreno and believes he can coach the inconsistency out of him, make him positionally better... It maybe that Klopp thought 10M for an unproven 18 year old (with potential) was too much. It maybe that Klopp thinks he can get away with Milner at LB until Gomez is fit, who, prior to getting injured last year was doing a solid job at LB. Therefore didn't see LB has a "need" position? With regards to DM.. it does appear that 4-3-3 is the favoured formation, with the middle 3 players possessing a bundle of energy deployed in our high press.. In this formation, the need for an out and out DM is less important, I'd assume? Can see Can being the middle of the 3 in midfield (when fit) with the likes of Lallana, Grujic, Gini, Hendo or Milner taking up the other 2 positions. Which will give us the options of 3 from the likes of Mane, Coutinho, Firmino, Studge, Origi and Ings for the attacking options. They maybe not be world beaters on their own, but if Klopp can mould them into doing what we need, then we'll be just fine, can also see Matip adding to the Defence, jury is out on the goalie, not seen the lad play, but he's obviously been bought into replace Mings, so that should, if it pans out, be a big Plus too.. Up the Reds!
Everbright are interested in buying a stake in Liverpool FC and they value Liverpool at £1 billion pounds. (Bloomberg) http://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...itors-said-prepared-to-weigh-higher-valuation
FSG have talked about not being opposed to someone joining and buying a small stake in the club but they don't want to sell the whole thing... that's from Werner a couple months back
