Reports doing the rounds that we have turned down a £4.5m offer for Dummett from Palace.

    Quite right too.

4.5 is a great offer, one nobody will ever offer again for Dummett. Nice lad, but league 1 level, maybe pushing it as a championship CB.

We should really have accepted that. It's a good bid. I think he would do real well at Stoke.

Really? Fairly pleased we turned them down seeing as we have no time to replace and he is decent backup.

Agree, for all the **** he gets, he's a decent squad player and we've had far worse defenders.

Glad we rejected. Even if it's only for the home grown factor.

We've just signed Lazaar and have Gamez, Clarke and Haidara who can play the position. Dummett will be decent this season and I'm glad we kept him but I wouldn't have been fussed if we'd cashed in for that money - it's genuinely more than he's worth.

I read that as we have Lazaar who can play in this position (who although he looks promising and I'm very pleased with the signing of, we have never seen on a regular basis and has never played in England). Clarke is a CB who looks awful at LB. Haidara can't defend. Gamez is naturally a RB. Selling Dummett would weaken our squad.

Tut tut tut! You mention Clarke is a CB who looks awful at LB - well Dummett is even worse!
    Haidara is a god!
    Lazaar is ace!
Gamez though naturally a LB is still 3 leagues ahead of Dummett!

<laugh> You are of course entitled to your opinion, even if it is cream-faced looneryism.

You just answered your own question I think.

I see Anita/Yedlin and Lazaar as the attacking full back options and when Rafa wants a more sturdy or reserved defence he will select Gamez for the right and Dummett on the left. That's the way I think Rafa is thinking. Clarke was pretty awful by all accounts at left back at Bristol so shouldn't be relied on, Haidara is useless and Gamez is really a RB so keeping Dummett is a good move and he's a good option at CB.

If anyone else tells DPP Haidara is ****e I think he will finally break down.

Do think Dummett is back up centre back
