I would be - he's featured in all our matches bar the Newcastle game. Maybe I'd rate Smith more than him, but Smith has spent a lot of time out injured.

I know your philosophy is that all our players should be Premiership/upper Championship quality, whether they're 1st, 2nd or even 3rd choice, but I'd only be OK with Pack going if there was someone coming in to replace him.

Assombolonga* deal was as good as dead the minute they sold Burke to Leipzig for £13m - they have no great need for cash and they wouldn't want to risk the backlash of selling another first teamer.

Dack would be very interesting though...

Because a.) he's on big boy wages now, b.) there are prem clubs interested, c.) there are higher rates championship clubs after him, d.) he will be well over priced on deadline day, e.) he was in our league last year and is well aware we were in a relegation battle all year, f.) he isn't getting any younger, his next move if he wants top flight football needs to be a team with premier league history. The list goes on...

When you said "the club" I assumed you meant ours, given this is the Bristol city forum, sorry.

Zak Vyner's moved to Accrington Stanley on loan - could be a good move for all concerned.

Pack must be our most improved player but with O'Neill and Smith with Reid as well, competition is going to be tough so can see why he might want to move on.

Yes, lots going out but TBH, we were never going to rely heavily on Garita or Vyner, so going out on loan is good experience for them and BCFC much as in the same way both we and Chelsea benefit with Abraham.

Havent heard about the Swede yet and Pack is to be confirmed so I expect a lot going on behind the scenes.

Deadline day hasn't been this exiting for us for years!

    Oh no - FFS.

These are first team players. WTF is happening?

    I'm scared .......

Perhaps we'll have secured a fantastic deal to sell Ashton Gate to a supermarket chain - giving us loads of money, but nowhere to play :(
    Are we being sold off?

    • Highly-rated Swedish international signs three-year deal with a further year's option
    • 20-year-old becomes City's 12th signing of the summer
City have completed the signing of the highly-rated Swedish international forward Gustav Engvall from IFK Gothenburg for an undisclosed fee.

    The 20-year-old has signed a three-year contract with a further year’s option.

Engvall, who hails from Kalmar in the South East of Sweden, began his career at Farjestadens in the third tier before departing in 2012.

Having made his IFK debut aged 17, he racked up a total of 16 goals in 64 appearances for the two-time UEFA Cup winners.

Head coach Lee Johnson said: “I’m delighted we’ve been able to bring Gustav to Ashton Gate.

“This is another big transfer for us and it’s taken a lot of hard work from a lot of people.

“He’s a Swedish international who has excellent finishing ability. I’m sure he will adjust quickly to the pace and tempo of the Sky Bet Championship and when he does he’ll be really dangerous.”

He is on £35k per WEEK - which those clubs were prepared to cover and it was still blocked by Boro.

There is no way we would pay those wages - it would destroy the dressing room.

No need to panic I think - we're in a position of strength, and I don't think we'll be selling anyone that we weren't okay with moving on.

Also, there's still seven hours to go. Past windows will tell you that plenty happens from here on out.

For someone so young to get full caps for Sweden is impressive. Only time will tell as always, but I've been hugely impressed with the diversity of the players we've signed and the comparatively small fees paid for them.

That's a very good point there Nick H because it always appeared to me from a great distance that we were clutching at straws on most occasions. Something seems to be more organised this time around and the diversity of the positions we have filled (or replaced) look good from the outset which tells me that some thought was put in to the mix. If you want to succeed then you need to be especially smart, or at least smarter than the other average bears, and after many years of saying we needed this, or that, perhaps we have finally arrived in the departure lounge of our future.

I wish Pack the very best and we may miss him more than we think.

I do think that doing the same thing as any other club isn't likely to reap many rewards - simply throwing around cash at unimaginative 'safe' targets (if there's ever such a thing) is a very expensive strategy without necessarily guaranteeing results. Only a couple of years ago, QPR got relegated from the Premiership, despite having a wage bill greater than Atletico Madrid:

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ns-League-finalists-Atletico-Madrid-year.html

It's only by trying things out of the ordinary that one can hope to be extraordinary.
