Defence (again)

Sorry to start the whole thing off again but This is Anfield is reporting that Martin Skrtel will miss the beginning of the season with an on-going injury.
I know we've hammered this one but I think this highlights the need for experienced back-up so we're not throwing the younger players in at the deep end.

We still have Carra Agger Soto and Kelly so I suppose it's ok.

I see the rumour mill is grinding again today with a story about a bid for Cahill

 

The Gary Cahill talk was dismissed by Bolton's Owen Coyle in an interview. He said he sat down with KK and David Moyes last week in the Premier League meeting and they talked and he never mentioned Cahill.

I agree we need another centre-back. If we sign Enrique for left-back and put Johnson back on the right, we can have Kelly to cover the central defence positions.

If we add another centre-back we'd have -
Jamie Carragher
Daniel Agger
Martin Kelly
Martin Skrtel
Soto (Can't spell his full name )

Wisdom looks like he could do the job, and I'd put him ahead of Soto that's for sure.

 

From an outsider looking in but im sure you all know this you need a cb and a leftback, and would probably need to spend heavy on the cb, this season i think is one season too many for carragher, skrtel is hit and miss, agger despite being totally brilliant has injury issues on a minute by minute basis, and the greek is a liability despite his enthusiasm.

leftback is a no brainer aurellio is always injured and insua is too young to be number one all season.

 

I would put Kelly ahead of Wisdom though and hope we don't have so many problems that we have to go that far.

Wisdom is defo one for the future though.

Flanagan Kelly Wisdom Robinson would be a great back 4 in the future.

So your confirming my confirmation of Owen Coyle's confirmation that there has been no confirmation of genuine Liverpool interest from KK that would confirm our interest in the player?

 

Is that confirmed?

 

Or Maybe he was confirming that Owen Coyle hadn't confirmed that Gary Cahill had come out of the closet which would confirm our suspicions that he was gay?

 

Perhaps Gay is just his confirmation name.

So if/when Agger gets injured then we're completely ****ed!

Why we haven't signed a centre back this summer is beyond me? We bought a pile of centre midfielders instead.

Carra is still good but only if he has someone good beside him. Soto isn't good and all the youngsters aren't good enough yet, definitely wouldn't want to be throwing Kelly in at centre back for a run of games this season, don't think he's ready yet.

 

The summer isn't over yet. I expect a couple more will come in.

 

I agree that just because we haven't signed anybody yet doesn't mean we aren't going to. I think Skrtel's injury shows us the danger of complacency regarding that position- I'm sure the club is well aware of it anyway.
