??/ not sure about that - if he's spoken to both us and Hull, likelihood is he may not be guaranteed forst team footy here once everyone is fit - I'd certainly say he's no better than Cattermole so Kirchhoff and Cattermole play before him (and if we're after M'Vila then he'd be 4th choice for me) - at Hull he will likely be a first choice almost guaranteed
We have Borini, Watmore, Khazri, Januzaj, Gooch all to play in that role - even Pienaar when everyone is fit if we're talking about the middle on of the 3 in a 4-2-3-1 formation. I thought he was OK a few times but never looked that special. Would've liked him here but I reckon he wouldn;t be guaranteed football here when everyone is fit. If he proved he was that player then he'd get it but he'd have to work hard for it IMO. (Always thought he was a DM! shows how much I know about him!!)
None of their natural position mate. Mason is a very good player, this is a rival strengthening v us make no mistake.
Another twist - Sevilla accepted but the player decided to stay: http://sportwitness.co.uk/although-club-accepted-sunderlands-bid-player-pulls-ahead-medical-tests/? This morning, we covered an article from Marca which said that Sevilla had rejected Sunderland’s £7m offer for Vicente Iborra. The Marca claims contradicted what was said by Sky Sports earlier, since the English outlet claimed that the Black Cats’ bid had been accepted. But AS has some information which presents another way. They say Sevilla had accepted the transfer, which was agreed to be at a fee of €9m, but Iborra himself is the one who rejected it. The player reportedly wants to stay at the Spanish club and called the transfer off. According to AS, the move was only lacking the medicals to be done. They claim that David Moyes will now have to look for other options for Sunderland’s midfield. Iborra’s contract at Sevilla runs until 2020.
It could very well be the agent playing hard ball over wages. We have seen it many times before. The thing is if Mason goes to Hull it weakens our position.
I bet Moyesy has a dab on now. Keeper, Midfielder and a striker the minimum required. Can we get any over the line?
They play completely different positions so it's not as if it's a like for like replacement. Only rationale for me is get the wages off the wage bill to help cover Nasri's as he'd be on a canny whack at City who are no doubt subsiding them. Can't imagine Iborra is on more than £25k mind you.
Different types of players, mate. That would be like selling Cattermole, because we have bought, Borini.
Sevilla accepted our offer, but Iborra turned us down mate. He's spent his entire career playing in Spain and doesn't want to leave, so this one is dead in the water I'm afraid.
I though it was Sevilla that pulled the plug. A few other lads said they are 2 different types of players so probably wouldn't change anything.
